At our Calera, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

First time visiting this Captain D’s. It was good. The cashier was very nice, the restaurant was clean, my food came out quickly. The only reason the food gets 4 stars is because it’s hard to give a national fast food chain 5 stars, since I know there’s better fried fish you can find from local spots.

Service was excellent and fast, even with a brand new guy ringing me up. Would have given 5 stars, except they now charge extra for okra and corn. That’s on corporate. I hope they have the decency to pass that price gouging onto their employees’ paychecks.

Staff has always been great, so let me be clear about that up front. My low rating is because the brand changed their type of fish. It used to be delicate and flaky. Now it’s dull, dense and garbage quality fish. Such a shame. Captain D’s was my favorite fast food place to go. End of an era, I guess, because if this is the way it’ll be then the brand is dead to me.

Went after Sunday church service today and it was almost empty, but it did get really crowded by 1:00.
Our food took 17 minutes (reason for only 4 stars), so it’s definitely not a “fast food” option. We were allowed to use 2 coupons and our 3 dinners only came to $19.13. The food was hot and very good. We’ll be back.

Leaving a review because I had an awesome experience here a few minutes ago. They had a long line and I waited for 15 minutes. But Brendan took or and was super polite. He also greeted me at the menu and the window. My food was hot and fresh. My order was correct and Brendan said he hopes I had a great day. It was probably regular service to him. But it was way better than the last two fast food places I’ve been to. They made me feel like I insulted them by coming.

I waited in the drive through line 10 minutes – by the clock – and it never moved: the customer 4 cars in front of me repeatedly made demands – why didn’t they ask him to park so they could bring his food out? There is an asphalt ramp next to the walkway out the building – this prevents you from driving closer to the drive thru speaker, so that I must have asked “I beg your pardon?” And said “I CAN’T HEAR YOU” a dozen times! So, yes, I left after 10 minutes, because NOTHING was moving. Their food must be good, though, if regular customers put up with this baloney!!!

I’m very upset with my order from Uber Eats. I tried to report to them that my drink was missing from my order. I even called through their system to talk to the driver about my drink but he didn’t pickup. Also, my bag from Captain Ds full of smoke.
Cigarette smoke was all inside my bag where my food was. Every time I went into my bag to get my food out I can smell the cigarette smoke. I’m highly upset. I took pictures and explain the situation on Uber Eats help App but it wouldn’t accept it. It only gave me 1 choice order something else.
However, I did call and talk to the Manager Kelly at Cpt D’s but like she said there’s nothing she can do, because it’s all on the driver Marcus who forgot to bring my drink and let smoking be going on in his vehicle. Customer service for Uber Eats – 2 stars because they did give a $5.00 wallet to use on my next purchase. I give Marcus the Driver 2 ⭐️. (Shouldn’t be smoking and delivering food). But, I still gave him a $7.00 seed. (Tip)
Overall my Deluxe Seafood Platter gets 3.5 stars because the stuff crab needs more seasoning it was too bland. Plus, I had no tater sauce even though I requested it on both my orders. I order the Shrimp Kids meal with Diet Pepsi but it was missing. I had the Superme Sampler as you can see the chicken are now strips not long fillet like they use to be. Just to let you know that the Bake Potato and Corn on the Cob you must pay extra to get it. ($.69) cents more. I give everything else 3.5 stars ⭐️.

First time trying CD’s. It is good. I’m not a big fish eater but this is exactly what I was wanting. The hush puppies are delicious and coleslaw is perfect.
