First thing we notice with our experience was at the kiosk for the sandwich that I was going to order. It stated that it was 3/4 of a pound. This was in the description. It was on the menu. When I got to the counter I noticed that the counter had a different weight of a half pound. Because of this discrepancy, I chose to order with the live CSR instead of using the kiosk because I had questions.
The csr said that the food is supposed to be a half pound and so that the menu was incorrect. I asked him if they were going to honor the 3/4 lb menued and they said that they would not which is fine. Just wanted to see you if they would honor what is advertised for everybody within kiosk system. The reason why this is important is because if everybody ordered some the kiosk and thinks they get 3/4 of a pound and only get a half pound that’s deceptive.
Ordered our food and we went ahead explained. We would like the dessert to come after the meal and that please not bring it out.
We go to our table and wait. The first thing that comes out is all of our food including our dessert. I asked nicely for the CSR to take the dessert back and they did as I told him I would receive it later.
Let’s talk about the food, on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say this is a between a three to six range.
It’s not as bad as Rudy’s but it’s right around that benchmark of fast food BBQ.
Nothing really had any true flavor baked in so everything is really safe. You would have to put your sauce on it to get the flavors popping.
Everything was pretty much what I expected for a fast food Barbecue.
I wish it would have been a little bit more transparency on the portions and pricing and I wish there would have been a more flavoring to the food.
Plus that is everything is ATV brand items so we know where it comes from.
Sorry H-E-B, my opinion this is more like a fast food BBQ.
I will state this is my first one where I have enjoyed the food and it was warm to eat but not really fresh still.
Presentation of the food looked so amazingly delicious.
The service was fast and we used the kiosk to order. Honestly using the kiosk felt faster, but you’re pretty much self check out when your using the Kiosks and you will need to requests the cups while you wait for your food or you can wait for your food to get your drinks.
Plenty of fountain drink options, and beer tap options.
The one thing about this location is there is only one uni-sex bathroom and the main restrooms are across the other side of the store down aisle 32.
Overall, this place left a great impression compared to the rest of the True Texas BBQs I have tried. This so far the best one in my opinion.
We had an excellent experience at True Texas BBQ thanks to Danielle! She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She took the time to explain there was a short wait on the mac n’ cheese and kept us informed the entire time, which we really appreciated. Danielle also took the initiative to tell us about the upcoming holiday meals — her friendliness and attention to detail truly stood out. Exceptional customer service like hers makes all the difference. We’ll definitely be coming back!
