At Sophia Steak, we believe great dining goes beyond just incredible food; it’s about creating memorable experiences. As the premier steakhouse in Chicago and the North Shore, we serve expertly prepared steaks, fresh seafood, daily specials, and indulgent desserts in a stylish yet comfortable setting. Founded by lifelong friends and hospitality veterans Ryan O’Donnell and Jon Farrer of Ballyhoo Hospitality, along with Glenn Keefer, Sophia Steak first opened its doors in Wilmette in 2020. After quickly becoming the neighborhood’s go-to steakhouse, we expanded to Lake Forest in 2022 and Chicago in 2025. Sophia Steak offers dinner seven days a week and space for private gatherings.

Had an excellent, not just meal, but experience, here to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday! Champagne to start the meal, personalized menu, celebratory dessert with sparkly candle! The food was excellent. Filet mignon, sea scallops- both delicious! Octopus app was also very good as was the lobster bites! Only thing better was the attentive and friendly service from Fernando! He made our night very special!

Came for Valentine’s. Atmosphere was superb, the lights are dim, the music isn’t too loud, the restaurant is decorated well. Food was wonderful, cooked to our liking and served beautifully. Anniversary Dinner at Sophia Steak – A Perfect Celebration
We celebrated our anniversary at Sophia Steakhouse in Lake Forest, and they truly made it unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt special—welcomed with a personalized menu celebrating our day and a glass of toasting champagne brought over as we sat down. Such a thoughtful and elegant start to the evening.
We chose to sit in the bar area, which was comfortable, quiet, and intimate—perfect for a relaxed yet special night out. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, and they were hands-down the best we’ve ever had—rich, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious.
For our entrées, I enjoyed the hanger steak with sautéed onions, while my husband went for his favorite, the burger. Both were exceptional. We shared a side of creamed spinach, and everything came with crisp, flavorful truffle fries—a decadent touch that tied the meal together beautifully.
To top it all off, our server surprised us at the end with a gelato sundae, complete with a flaming candle, adding just the right celebratory flair to close out the evening.
From the incredible food to the attentive, thoughtful service, Sophia Steak made our anniversary dinner feel truly special. We’ll definitely be back.

First time here. Service was one of the best I’ve experienced. Ordered my usual lemon drop martini but the 1st one had no sweetener and the 2nd one was barely sweetened. Tuna tartare came with thin and crispy tortilla chips which was different but actually a great pairing. Filet and tomahawk were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Asparagus would’ve been better if they were thinner but cutting it into pieces helped. Reservations are recommended for dinner because it was a full house on a Thursday night at 6:30pm.
