The vibes in here are very modern Thai. Super loud and hard to hear, but cool vibes. Seems like they are short staffed during busy times with only one bar tender, one server, and cooks in the back. The dining area is small, and there was always a line at the door but it goes by quickly. Maybe a 10-15 min wait on weekends. The food was pretty good, just wish the service was better!

Same Same is one of those rare neighborhood gems that manages to feel both homey and transportive. Nestled in Roscoe Village, it delivers the kind of Thai food that reminds you why comfort and craftsmanship don’t have to compete.

Same Same doesn’t shout for your attention, it earns it through flavor and feeling. Their house made curries are the clear standout, silky, aromatic and layered with spices that reveal themselves slowly, like a story being told one chapter at a time. Every bite feels thoughtful and intentional, balancing heat, sweetness, and depth in a way that feels authentically Thai but unmistakably their own.

The back patio deserves its own applause. It’s a quiet, candlelit escape that turns an ordinary meal into something almost cinematic. Perfect for date nights, long talks or solo dinners where you just want good food and your own thoughts. A definite gem!

The food was really disappointing. The flavors were very bland, and the chicken tasted like it had freezer burn. The sticky rice was overly mushy instead of having the right texture. Overall, the meal didn’t meet my expectations for a Thai restaurant, and I wouldn’t come back or recommend this restaurant.

The drinks at this restaurant are absolutely fantastic, perfectly complementing the delicious food! Among my personal favorites are the mango sticky rice, with its sweet and creamy coconut sauce, and the pork belly fried rice (khao phat muu krob), which features perfectly crispy pork and aromatic jasmine rice. You truly can’t go wrong with any of the dishes here; each one is crafted with care and bursts with authentic flavors. It’s definitely worth giving this place a try, and I’m confident you won’t regret it! This restaurant has firmly secured its spot on my go-to list for Thai food in Chicago!

I was so impressed with Same Same! The food was awesome: flavorful, warming, and well presented. The miso hot buttered rum was a standout too, so unique and a big portion. We went on a Monday so it was easy to get a table as a walk in. I can’t wait to go back.

We loved their crispy fried chicken. The shallot topping was flavorful and the sticky rice was really soft. I also recommend their fried rice. About the curry, the crispy noodle was good but it was so little, the rest are soft noodle. So only order it if you really into curry.

I want to love this place but I feel that I keep ordering the wrong thing. I tried their Sii Khrong Muu Yang the first time I went and found it incredibly bland. My partner got the Khao Soi Gai and it was delicious. Second time we went, I got the Phat Thai and my partner got the Panang Curry. The Phat Thai had flavor, just not one I particularly enjoyed 🙁 but the Panang Curry was really delicious.. it seems like this place strives in their curries but falls flat with other dishes unfortunately.

Pretty good Thai restaurant. Really great service, despite being busy. Food takes awhile to come but it’s really fresh and pretty delicious. 4 stars because it was pretty expensive but it’s on Roscoe street so not surprising. Indoor and outdoor seating- outdoor seating out front and out back which is really nice. Would go back to try their fried chicken and other curries.

Tried Same Same for takeout the first time and was blown away—had to come back for dine-in.
The Kao Soi is an absolute standout: rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The pork belly rice is just as impressive—crispy, tender, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re grabbing takeout or sitting down for a meal, Same Same delivers.

Affordable Thai bites in Roscoe Village. Hat Yai fried chicken and spicy fries were delicious. Felt like thai flavors mixed with southern/soul cooking. However, Phat So Ew was a tad too salty and sour for our taste while the Tom Yum soup was bland. Mango sticky rice could’ve been better, the mango wasn’t sweet so as a dessert it wasn’t up to the mark. They got lagers from Thailand which was a nice touch. With 2 patios and indoor space there’s ample seating. Portions are large and you can get plenty for 2 under $30. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They don’t take reservations at the moment but you can call ahead to check if they’re busy. Will be back to try their curries and give it another try to see if it was just a bad day.
