Cute restaurant with bohemian feel, delicious food, warm hospitality, and good vibes all around. I loved all the food, particular the spinach feta dip and the crispy shrimp. The salads were fresh and well-dressed. They have various protein options, including chicken schnitzel and filet mignon with pesto. The shrimp pasta was also quite tasty. I was so glad to see that there was free parking available in the lot as well. Overall, it’s a cute spot for a date night or intimate dinner with friends/family, and I think that Ava Kro is s great place to go for more of a local vibe.

What an intimate dinner! Nestled in the Bel Air hills, this locations feels isolated, but it gets busy with both locals, and those that traverse the distance. We tried the Greek Salad, the Antonia Salad, the Viking Kremet Filet, the Skadi Schnitzel, the Swedish Meatballs, the Citrus Miso Salmon, the Meaty Top Pizza, the Apple Pie, and ice creams of Affogato and Darkest Chocolate. Overall, 5 stars! Excellent ambiance, menu options, fresh ingredients, and for the most part great flavors. In terms of particular notes: I definitely enjoyed the Greek Salad over the Antonia. I’m not really a beet person, so when I say that it’s decent for being beets, take that to heart. The oranges and the burrata on it were fabulous. If I could eat that Greek Salad every day, I would. The presentation was visually appealing and the dressing was perfect. Out of the entrees, we enjoyed the Viking Kremet Filet. The sauce was a bit flour-y, but there was a nice smoky depth to the meat. It wasn’t as tender as filet mignon should be. The Citrus Miso Salmon was a bit on the fishy side, not too bad, though. The citrus miso was layered a bit thick, and it kind of coated the inside of my mouth, but it was nice and flavorful. The Skadi Schnitzel was a nice portion, battered and fried properly. The sauce on it was overpowering. The lemon and caper were very prominent in the sauce, and looking back, the schnitzel sauce probably would have done better with the salmon. There was also a piece of bone at the end of the schnitzel, so be warned if you try to cut through or chew that end piece. The Swedish Meatballs are not your standard fare. Strands of saffron were sprinkled on top of the meatballs. The mix of veal and bison made a fabulous meatball, and the sauce was perfect. The mashed potatoes on this dish tasted slightly different, but better, from the other plates, but maybe it was the sauce that helped. The Meaty Top pizza was good. Nothing spectacular about it, but the sauce was light and again, it had fresh ingredients. Everything we tasted had a comforting earthy essence. With desserts, the apple pie had a crust that texturally bordered on croissant level. The pie filling wasn’t overly sweet and was a great wrap up to the meal. The ice creams were pretty good, however, they didn’t have most of the flavors available that were on the menu. Our waitress (Hedieh, sorry if I misspelled her name) was wonderful throughout the meal and was knowledgeable about the wine options. We picked a deliciously jammy Georgian red wine.

If you are going with 2 or more people, grab a bottle of wine and a few entrees and share the plates. Each one is palate pleasing unique and is good for a shared experience.

The best steak in Bel Air and all of Los Angeles! Juicy, flavorful, just wow!!!
Scroll through the photos + video in my review and you’ll see for yourself (but honestly…it’s even better to come and try).

Appetizers were just as amazing, made with the freshest seasonal ingredients straight from farmers’ markets. Tomatoes with peaches, creamy burrata, crushed pistachios, and balsamic sauce a MUST-try combo!

I want to highlight the excellent quality of service and every single dish (from appetizers to mains, desserts, and drinks).

The wine list is also diverse
I personally love sweet wine and even though my waiter honestly advised against pairing it with my dishes, I still went with it and was soooo happy I did! My glass (if I remember correctly, an Italian sweet wine) was absolutely delicious. If you’re also into sweet wines, there’s just one option on the menu – go for it, you won’t regret it (I even had two glasses that evening).

Desserts? Loved them all!
Perfectly balanced, rich in flavor, and not overly sweet – which is very important to me.

The exterior and interior are both cozy, making it an ideal spot for a date night, dinner with friends, or family gatherings ✨

Thank you so much, Ava Kro, for having us!
Can’t wait to be back again ❤️

My wife and I really enjoyed our meal here. It is off the beaten path in Los Angeles which really adds to the experience. I normally don’t order steak when I dine out, but I ordered the filet mignon which was really delicious. The portion was the exact right amount. My wife had a pizza which she loved, also the perfect portion. We shared a dessert as well. The wine list was unique, and I liked that they had a couple of wines from Topanga that I wasn’t previously familiar with. We definitely look forward to returning sometime soon.

What a hidden gem in the hills, felt like we were dining in a cabin restaurant in the alps

The steaks and sauces were delicious, and there were appreciable details like warmed plates and bottle of water constantly replaced. The wine serving felt generous, and dessert was also fantastic. Everything tasted full of flavor. Dress code felt ambiguous because we saw business casual to jeans, families to dates, which I interpreted is that everyone is welcome.

Parking is limited in a small lot, and spots are claimed by different businesses so be careful. The drive up can be a little winding with stops and a roundabout that made no sense because it also had a stop.

Absolutely wonderful food, every little detail is so well thought out and executed beautifully. We have been twice and everything we have ordered has been so incredibly flavorful and so perfectly cooked. This is such a gem nestled in the hills of Bel Air. Also a well curated wine list!

What a perfect evening! What an extra-ordinary culinary experience! Food and wines were off-the-beaten path, delivering unusual but fantastic tastes from the oysters to the gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza, the French onion soup ( best ever and I am French ) , chicken wings ( clean & delicious ), scallops ( out of this world ), the variety of salads and desserts. You’ll eat more than your usual because everything is so light, refined and so tasty! No guilty trip at Ava Kro just bewilderement in front of the superior quality of everything and the sulfate-free wines …….!!!!

The food was good, but the service was disappointing. We were a party of 8 and it took an hour and a half for our meals to arrive, served one by one. Everyone had to wait until the last dish came out, which meant we all ended up eating cold food. For the price, I expected much better service.
