It was our first time here and we loved it, we mainly loved it because of our server, who also greeted us when we walked in. His name is Juan, amazing customer service, the guy who drop off the salsa and chips not so much. Juan took our vegetarian order and took the time to explain the menu on certain items we had questions on. There are limited vegetarian options but my mom asked for the quesadilla to be made with corn instead of flour tortilla, and they gladly substituted. The flavor was very good. A very solid, if Americanized, Mexican style cuisine. The quality ingredients and good cooking techniques make it a solid choice. The staff are top-notch, engaging with us, answering questions happily, and never rushing us OR abandoning us. The atmosphere is cozy and the restaurant is clean. I only reserved two food stars because I am still searching for more deeply, authentically Mexican ingredients. I do have to add that the nacho chips were very good; thin, crispy and warm, and the salsa served with them IS a 5-star standout! I also appreciated the fry on the flautas.

I have been here multiple times with my husband. The food is delicious and the service is always very attentive and helpful. We typically get the salsa and add jalapenos and get the veggie fajitas and add steak. The flavor is delicious! Highly recommend and hope this restaurant gets more business! It is usually somewhat empty; I hope more folks will get to experience this delicious food and great service.

One of the constants for our trips to Chattanooga is getting a dinner at Fonda San Jose. The food is always amazing, and the service is great. We get different dishes every time, and they never disappoint. The chicken, carnitas, vegetables, salsa, dips….they’re all great. The restaurant is pretty large, and we’ve never had to wait for a table at dinner.

An excellent restaurant. The first hint was the salsa. It was actually very spicy. It even had detectable cilantro, which I love. Most, American, Mexican places have exotic ketchup for salsa. The chips were very good. I am not a huge fan of very thin ones. I wish they had been a little more substantial. Especially because of the great salsa. I ordered Carne Asada. It was a nice large steak. There was plenty of condiments that were delicious. I like the guac but it was not the best I have had. Three great tortillas made three super delicious tacos. I loved the beans. The rice was just ok.

We are just in town for a few days so we were depending heavily on reviews for our choices. This restaurant absolutely hit the mark with delicious Mexican food and service. They had ample lunch choices and adult happy hour specials for those not working. I had the chicken fajitas and they were excellent. Even the rice and beans were excellent. The chips, cheese dip, and salsa were fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you are in the area.

This place was within walking distance from our hotel, we took two adults, a picky teenager, and a 9-year-old. We all really enjoyed our food, and the sopapilla was the best I’ve ever had! The price for four meals was very reasonable.
