At Pedestrian we care about people from the coffee farm to the end consumer. From sourcing and roasting our farm-to-table coffee to handing it off to you in the cafe, our priority it to treat all people with kindness. This means we pay top prices to coffee growers. It also means that whatever your background is—you’re welcome here. Hope to see you soon.

Hands down the best coffee shop in the area if you need to work while having your coffee. I had to hang out in this area for a few hours waiting for someone. I first went to the Starbucks at Belmont and Clark–Starbucks is usually reliable for plugs but this Starbucks location is somewhat small with only one set of plugs in the floor by the door (at least as far as I could tell). Pedestrian is the opposite–quite a wide range of (mostly shared) work areas with accessible plugs at just about every seat. Coffee options are waaaaay better than Starbucks–I particularly liked the cardamom-rose latte which was so flavorful and not overly sweet. The folks who were working there were also super nice, even though every 20 mins or so they’d get a rush of customers and have to work super hard to get them through quickly. Thank you, Pedestrian for a great place to get work done (and enjoy coffee).

This is my new favorite coffee shop!! I have been recommending it to everyone I know. Even when it’s busy, the people working are so kind and so chill. This next part is specifically for Johnathan (I think your name is Johnathan…whoever is in charge of the drinks menu): I am begging you, please PLEASE make the grapefruit rosemary latte a permanent item on the menu! I love it so much, I understand it has a very seasonal vibe, but it’s so unique and delicious, I would drink it every day if I could. Please consider it (: If it does have to leave at the end of the season, I look forward to whatever the next seasonal drink may be, but damn this is a good coffee!!

Nestled right under the L tracks, this spot has a very nice selection of drinks, some good pastries, and a few new hot food items.
Lots of seating, including a small outdoor patio with an overhang if you don’t mind the train noise.
Great spot to work, study, or read.

The quality of everything here is exceptional! Quality alongside a friendly barista team is a killer combo, making Pedestrian one of my favorite coffee spots in Chicago. High quality coffee beans (also for sale) and high quality matcha powder. Single origin pours are available and you can watch them pour a lovely black cup of coffee with care. Their food menu is next level. Support your local coffee shop

Small coffee and food shop next to the Belmont red line. Started coming this month and from the moment I walked in it was the most relaxing spot for me post-chiropractor.
The girl taking your order with the enthusiastic demeanor is the best; when I ordered today she made sure to go above and beyond for me to check if they had an ingredient included on the breakfast menu. I ordered the bowl. Then, she made this with her own hands. YES IT TASTES AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS.
I really like this place. 10/10

Coffee was really good but I cannot believe it cost $9 with tax for a 16 ounce iced caramel latte. Not worth it for that price

Cute place and lovely staff, but $8.31 (before tip) for this tiny (medium!) lavender latte is insane. It was good but not worth the price. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on a latte in my life including when I visited NYC.

Their coffee is always consistently good. I usually go for a simple latte, but that actually requires two basics that many coffee shops often overlook — well-frothed milk and good espresso. The ambience is lovely, with great seating and warm, cozy lighting. The shared bathroom is usually tidy and clean, which is always appreciated. What really stands out is that the owner is present and clearly cares, putting genuine effort into both quality and the customer experience — something that feels rare these days. And like many places, they are cashless due to risk of theft. It’s understandable, but also a sad reflection of the times we live in.
