We showed up without reservations and fortunately were able to get in, as they do quite a rousing bit of business. In fact there to go orders are stacked up on a table, and there’s an endless stream of delivery guys coming to get them. All a testament to the quality and flavor of the food they provide.
There were four of us and we ate family style sharing the sautéed brussels sprouts and veggie spring rolls. Everything was exactly on point. The brussels sprouts were a bit charred on the outside and slightly soft with a good crisp center. The spring rolls were well-made and well filled.
For our mains, we opted for the Panamg curry, drunken noodles, and massaman curry. Each dish had a great layering of flavors and spices with exactly the heat level we had ordered.
Our server was friendly and efficient without being intrusive and if we lived in the area, this would be one of our go to regular places. We highly suggest you try this great spot out if you’re in the area or if you’re not in the area… Get on the bus and get there .
Now let’s be real, parking wasn’t easy, but that’s just DC. The restaurant itself? Super cute and intimate with tiki hut vibes that make it feel like a little escape.
I came with a party of 6, we were seated right away even though the place was packed. The service was phenomenal and our food came out shockingly fast.
Let’s talk about the drinks:
I ordered the Bangkok Mule: chili vodka, Thai rum, lime juice, and ginger beer, and I swear, it was a 15/10. You could taste every single layer of flavor. So well balanced!
Appetizers:
* Brussels sprouts – Flavor was there, but they needed more time in the pan. Still a solid 6/10.
* Fried chicken wings – 10/10! So crispy, and the sweet chili glaze…I have no words. These were elite.
* Tom Yum Soup – 10/10! Rich, tangy, and comforting with fresh tomatoes and a broth that stayed hot to the last spoonful.
Entrées:
* Spicy Basil Fried Rice – 11/10 Chef’s kiss! Spicy, aromatic, and perfectly balanced.
* Salmon Curry – 20/10, no exaggeration. The piece of salmon was almost as big as my hand and cooked to perfection. The peanut curry sauce? Life-changing! Easily my favorite part of the whole meal.
Every dish popped with bright, bold flavors that felt both comforting and exciting. A few people in my group were trying Thai food for the first time, and they are literally hooked for life, they didn’t stop talking about this place until we left DC on Monday!
Tiki Garden is officially a must-visit every time I’m in the city. Authentic, flavorful, fast, and fun…don’t sleep on it!
So the staff is fairly friendly like I said and the atmosphere definitely feels more like home. I’ve been there when it’s quiet and when it’s busy and you can still hear yourself when it’s busy. Wow the aisles are a little narrow. They do make room for strollers and wheelchairs. Making sure that everyone feels welcome. We took my fiancé‘s little one there about a year ago, and even he felt the atmosphere to be comfortable, which is nice because he usually throws a fit anywhere.
