Pollo Campero locations have been popping up all over South Florida, and I’ve been eager to try this Guatemalan fast food chain. I was immediately impressed by how clean the restaurant was and how friendly the service felt, although I do wish they had someone consistently stationed at the front. We needed napkins and had to wait for someone to return to the register to help us since there were none to be found in the dining area.
One thing I really appreciated was that when you dine in, your meal is served on a real plate with silverware. It gave the experience a more elevated, family-style feel.
The fried chicken truly stood out. It tasted homemade, like it came straight from someone’s mom or grandma’s kitchen. The breading was light, and the chicken was tender and well-seasoned. The plantains were cooked to perfection, soft and sweet. Unfortunately, the rice didn’t measure up. The texture was off, with several hard grains that made it difficult to enjoy. Next time, I’m planning to try the mac and cheese, which I’ve heard is one of their most popular sides.
The restaurant also has a drive-thru and plenty of parking. I’ll definitely be back to get another stamp on my loyalty rewards card. That will get me one step closer to that Buy One, Get One Free chicken meal!

Was out looking for food tonight and decided to try out Pollo Campero. Unfortunately what should have a pleasant experience was a nightmare. I placed my order with no issue, when I get to the pay window I was informed that they do not have enough chicken to make 2 nine piece meals. Instead they have enough to make 1 whole nine piece meal and a six piece meal and they will offer me a piece of normal chicken to accompany the 6 piece. The place was empty so I found it weird to be out of food, but I agreed to the offer. After receiving the food I opened the bag at home to see that I did not receive the 6 piece as I was informed but received a 2 piece chicken. It also appears that I was charged extra for bbq sauce instead of getting them part of the meal as the cashier rang up ranch for the meals and then place two extra bbq as a part of the order. I unfortunately will never know because she did not provide me with a receipt. Overall the taste was average from what I ate and the food is over priced. I will not be eating here again!

The “famous chicken recipe” was salty, If you want the breast part, you have to pay en extra. The service was good, the place is clean. Empanadas… never again, far from good. I don’t know if this is because the place is new, but need some improvement.

I loved the scene, the people were amazing, they even had a door open and closer waiting for customer’s. The only bad part was the actual food. I got a 3 piece meal with Mac n cheese and a roll. All three pieces of chicken was undercooked and over seasoned. The Mac was delicious and the roll was perfect. I’m not sure if this is the new green synthetic meat being sold?

This is a great alternative to Popeyes or KFC since those fast food chains are not very abundant in this area. If you are looking for traditional fried chicken meals, this is the place to go. Service was quick, and the food was excellent. I have high blood pressure so I’ve removed alot of the salt out of my diet…that being said the chicken was a bit salty but everyone else I ate with said theirs was seasoned perfectly (just be conscious of this for those of you trying to stay away from heavy sodium intake like me) other than that everything else was great, they even have a few TVs up showing YouTube shorts and crazy funny compilations and makes you feel like you are home eating and scrolling through IG or X… hands down I will be eating here for lunch quite often…just going to have to drink more water now!!!
