I had the most amazing Breakfast Special here. They asked how I wanted my egg and I got it over easy with hot sauce. The egg drizzled into the roll, along with the gooey cheese. The layers of crunchy bacon made every bite other-worldly delicious. So good!!
The staff was friendly and smiley and this was on Thanksgiving morning, so it was extra nice to be greeted by kind and helpful people.

Where do I begin? My husband and I had gotten hero’s two separate times and each time there was hair in the lettuce! Another time we had gotten a hungry man hero, which also had hair in it. Several times separate times the price was different each time we purchased a bagel with cream cheese and jelly. The owner loves to jack up the price on anything you purchase if you’re paying with EBT. Last but not least, for those wonderful, thoughtful people that purchased a meal ticket for someone less fortunate, I would rethink that because my husband and I needed to use one of those meal tickets, which can be found on the counter taped to a small bulletin board near the brownies by the register. We made it into the store just before it started to down pour. I’m in a wheelchair and for the 1st time we needed to use the meal ticket. We only took one because we didn’t want to be greedy, we wanted to make sure there was more for someone else that’s also hungry but couldn’t afford a meal. There was six or seven receipts left after I took one. So while I’m ordering, my husband ran home quick to get me an umbrella. He came back, our food was ready, we made our way back up to the register where Bob the owner was standing. I happened to notice that all the receipts that were hanging there after I took mine were gone, and no other customers came in after me! We haven’t been in his establishment since. That made me sick to my stomach. How dare he take away something that someone else did out of the kindness of their hearts! I guess he feels he needs it more than someone less fortunate or maybe he feels entitled. Either way, it was wrong and he’s a disgusting person. Maybe he should lower his prices so that the less fortunate can afford to eat there and those that can afford to eat their don’t have to buy someone a meal. How about that Bob? You better do something because next I will report you for allowing people to buy things with their FS card and tripling the prices!

Food is great. The decisions made on pricing isn’t. Too bad I didn’t receive or ask for a receipt, though it wouldn’t show an itemized list to prove the charge but, I got the $5 pizza box and half dozen garlic knots and came to about $11. When Rob was punching the numbers in the register I saw he put 4.99 for knots. I said, that’s for the half dozen? He said yeah(its 4.99 for a dozen). I didn’t wanna argue so I rather leave this review. Its petty money but its principal. Do your calculations before paying. I shoulda argued but he knows what it should be and knows I’m not stupid so a bad review is my response.

A little on the higher end when it comes to pricing on the drinks; but, it’s a price I’m certainly willing to pay when it comes to the quality provided. The rainbow cookies were fantastic with tea, but for someone who isn’t as sugar-sweet loving person as I am, their more subtle sweetness would definitely stand on their own.
I haven’t had a chance to try the brownies yet, but, they taste fantastic according to my traveling partner.
The Hungry Man breakfast hero was, honestly, to die for. I will be making a trip back to New York at somepoint just for this sandwich. Seriously. While it definitely wasn’t “jam-packed”, but it was filled so much that hungry appetites should definitely be sated. Granted, I did not get ketchup on mine, so I cannot speak to the sandwhich having ketchup, but without it, the flavours were beyond on-pointe.
Now I have to talk bagels. I am very, very, picky with bagels. I generally haven’t come across a gentile bagel I liked before; but, for something not authentically Jewish, this New York bagel spot has the best Gentile bagels I have ever eaten – almost reaching a true Jewish quality with the flavor.
From my experience, as I said, I will hopefully make a trip back to New York & the Mastic area just for this quaint store/restaurant/deli/pizza place – hopefully with more people to show it to. Now to just start a petition for a branch to open in Illinois!

Hero Haven is consistently amazing! The food is always fresh and delicious. My daughter absolutely obsesses over their pizza and garlic knots, and everything else—from pasta dishes to wraps and sandwiches—is always top-tier. Highly recommend!

I’m usually skeptical about “one stop” food places that offer more than one thing. But their deli, bagels AND pizza are good, prices are fair and the staff is quick and helpful. I’d definitely recommend trying them out.

I placed a DoorDash order and the driver left too fast and he forgot my second pie, I called them and told them what happened and even after I sent the doordash driver back they told the driver they’d deliver the pizza to us.
The kids were very happy when the second pie came.

I am very disappointed with this establishment. I am a local and I normally order their pie special with the garlic knots and drink for $20. My last few orders with them have been disappointing but the one I have received today was the most distasteful one of them all. The garlic knots came with these huge shreds of garlic on them(they over did the garlic) and the pizza came with this extra green seasoning topping on the cheese , the crust was soggy which mean the pizza was not freshly made for my order and on top of that the slice that my child had received had a piece of wood in it that stabbed her in her gums. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are in person overseeing the preparation of your food or your ordering a hero but even then idk…..
