Went during a slow period, late at night. However staff were very helpful and food was freshly prepared. Clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Hove fish & chips and that means I know the great ones, from the good ones and the poor ones.
Not only does S&E produce excellent fish & chips – light batter, wonderfully fresh fish – but I must also really commend the owners for making the sit down area DOG FRIENDLY. Next to the takeaway is an attractive seating area of 6 tables where you can eat your takeaway free of charge. The lady owner that serves is super friendly and welcoming.
Give the unpredictability of British weather it’s often a big challenge where dog owners can get a snack or meal inside when it’s wet. We expected to have to take ours to done covered seating along the sea front do it was a brilliant bonus to find out we could take our dog Baxter inside.

From hero to zero! Never been compelled to write a negative review however, our experience last night was not what I expected. We ate here last year, sat on the beach at sunset and enjoyed some exceptional fish and chips. Fast forward to this year and 100% the worst fish and chips we’ve ever had. Honestly we were gobsmacked. Chips were fine but the fish was over cooked, dry and grey as for the batter – burnt and saturated in grease. We were the first customers of the evening and anticipating freshly cooked fish but what we got felt like the left overs from lunch time. Shameful and at £60+ for four… shocking!

There was the inevitable queue when we got there, but luckily we had booked to sit in the restaurant side.
The lad who served us was as polite as you like.
My missus had a small cod and loved it, I had a mushy pea fritter and loved it, and we both had an accompanying portion of chips. I have to say that the chips were amongst the best we’ve ever had. And the amazing thing – as others have pointed out – is that they aren’t soaked in oil! It almost feels healthy eating them!

Great fish and chips! Best chippy in West Bay. Good portions and reasonably priced considering location. Harbour a few strides away from shop… perfect setting for perfect chips. Be prepared to queue but it will be worth it.

Absolutely delicious staff were friendly and work really hard. They get through the orders very quickly as it is a very busy takeaway / restaurant.
I didn’t eat in, but the seating area looked well presented.
Prices were good, although the ketchup was expensive £3 for a small bottle. But needs are a must.
They have a good variety of food on the menu. Scampi was amazing

Beautiful fish and chips, freshly made to order. Battered sausage was also spot on. Was fairly busy when we went there but you get a ticket and wait till it’s read out, wasn’t more than 10 minute wait. I had a medium cod, regular chips and mushy peas. Was more than enough for me!
