I’ve eaten my way through countless pizzerias—from the back alleys of Naples to the bustling streets of Brooklyn—and Slice & Pie in Washington, DC is a standout. It’s rare to find a place outside of New York that nails the essence of a proper slice, but Slice & Pie does just that.
There’s a reason they were named in the top 10 for slices. They’ve got it figured out.
Their deep dish is super good as well- I prefer traditional, but a very good slice (add the hot honey!)
Whether you’re a DC local or just passing through, Slice & Pie is a must-visit. It’s a rare find that captures the soul of New York pizza while bringing its own twist to the table. Trust me—I’ve eaten a lot of pizza, and this one’s worth the trip.

Leaving two stars and not one because the worst of my experience I believe was the fault of Uber Eats. Ordered a burrata pizza and cheese pizza. Ended up with two burrata pizzas. Both looked horrible and tasted worst. It was my first tine trying slice & pie, was really looking forward to it but will never try it again. I really think the pizza sitting for 90 minutes with the driver is why it was disgustingly soggy and gross. The cheese was also leaking everywhere in liquid form. Slice & Pie – I know it must be impossible to turn down doing Uber Eats due to the money but they are crippling your long term business. I would get away from delivery.

Buy the slice and pizzeria and it’s really good. It was recently rated by an Italian website to be the number two by the slice pizzeria in the USA. It’s not listed on top 50 of by the pie though. Also, very minimal seating, so it’s more like a takeout place. I’m not sure how representative the Detroit square slice is because I’ve never had that before but the plain slice is really good and I tried their barbecue collaboration with a local barbecue restaurant, Federalist pig…Which is also good.

Extraordinary NY slice, also really liked the vodka Sicilian. This place beats Andy’s by a lot.
Side observation: when a new pie comes in old slices are put away offering customers only freshest stuff.

Not sure about the service and atmosphere because I got it delivered but you know when you are gluten free and you taste something and can’t believe it’s actually gluten free?? That’s how eating this pizza was. So good.

I’ve been on the hunt for good pizza in DC so decided to try out Slice & Pie. I came Monday afternoon so it wasn’t too busy. Inside has limited seating available, but it seems like more of a takeout restaurant.
I ordered the mushroom and truffle pizza. Looking back I wish I also got a slice of their cheese to try a more traditional slice, but the mushroom wasn’t bad. Service was quick and easy. After you order they take the slice you requested and heat it for you so it’s hot and ready. The inside decor is really cool and fun too.
Overall it was decent pizza, but I do want to come back and try their cheese and Detroit style pizzas too.

Had actually visited the location awhile ago and didn’t eat because the only way to customize was to but a whole large pie. They have since made it so you can purchase a small customizable pie. I tried 3 slices and a small extra cheese and bacon pie. The small pizza was a bit soggy, cheese came off and it just didn’t have a great taste. The mushroom slice was my least favorite and I love mushrooms so I was hoping it was going to be amazing. The Chicago style pepperoni with hot honey was good. The crust was buttery and crispy the hot honey gave it the flavor. The other slice I can’t recall the exact name but without the burrata would have been flavorless.
I was disappointed bc I really was hoping I had a place to eat at here in the city instead of waiting until I’m in NYC. I know they received some great accolades recently but I don’t forsee needing to go back.
There was also a bug running around the base of the counter. Another customer noticed it and when we brought it to the attention of the cashier she refused to come around. The cooks/workers in the back just laughed and spoke in Spanish piking fun at the customers (you never know who understands what you are saying). It could have been a water bug but regardless as a customer I don’t want to see that nor have someone in an establishment respond that way.

Everything about this place was amazing! The customer service was great. But the pizza!!! The pizza was delicious. We had to order a couple of more slices to go lol. Definitely will be back.
