Honestly very solid Hunan food! We got the pork and peppers and cauliflower, both of which I quite liked. The cauliflower had a delectable sauce and the pork was cooked to the perfect texture! My one gripe is that the wait time is rather long, despite being told that we’d get a seat pretty soon (granted they were quite busy so they had a lot going on).

Came here craving spicy food and this place delivered. The Xiang special fried rice had a nice kick and great wok aroma, and the house special chicken thigh in pot (boneless) was super flavorful with lots of peppers and garlic. Portion sizes were generous and perfect for sharing. If you like Hunan-style spice, this spot is worth a visit.

We’ve been to Hunan Cuisine 湘乡香 a few times over the years, and honestly, we weren’t too impressed in the past. But this time, the experience was much better — the food was flavorful, well-balanced, and fresh.

Here’s what we ordered:
• Grilled Whole Fish w/ House Special Chili
This was the highlight of our meal — tender, fresh, and perfectly spiced. We didn’t leave a single bite behind!
• Ants Climbing Tree (Glass Noodles w/ Minced Pork)
Classic and comforting. The noodles absorbed the sauce well and were nicely seasoned.
• Sliced Beef w/ Pickled Chili
A pleasant surprise. Tangy, spicy, and full of flavor.
• Sauteed Celtuce
Light, crisp, and refreshing — a great way to balance the heat from the other dishes.

The restaurant was clean, modern, and spacious. The manager was very kind and welcoming, which really added to the experience.

Overall, this visit completely changed our impression of the place. we’ll definitely be coming back — especially for the grilled fish!

Hunan cuisine

First time here. Had the chicken fun, pepper steak, and chicken broccoli. All were decent. Nothing really bad.

Don’t forgot your parking validated.

Nice decorations, nice employees. Quick service.

Highly recommended

A great spot to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine. The food is delicious, with each dish offering its own unique flavours. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. If you’re in Chinatown, Chicago, this place is well worth a visit.

Tasted like authentic hunan food. All the dishes we ordered were rich in flavor and the waiters were kind. I especially loved the eggplant and green beans.

We had lunch here last week after the restaurant we originally planned to visit had a long queue, and I’m glad we gave this place a try. The food was good but I did notice they seemed a little hesitant with the spice level, though; a bit more kick would’ve made some of the dishes even better. The fried rice was decent, nothing too special but it paired well with the other items we ordered.

Have been this place & ordered take out a couple times, and had mixed experience. So I was always a bit hesitated. We were here last time a couple weeks ago was our friends, and the dishes we ordered were generally good, except a bit too salty. Also as a Hunan cuisine, they seem really shy with the spiciness. Also had some other experience that food seemed not so fresh & tasty. Not sure if it’s the quantity control issue.

Lamb pepper
And shrimp with vegetable.

Pot sticker.

Good food but one complain hence the lower rating:
they charge $18+ for entree but can’t offer even one bowl of rice with it.
