Honestly amazed at how great this place is. I was looking for a new place to take my wife, since we love Mexican food. Saw the reviews and pictures from Lujos and thought we’d give it a try. Don’t let the size of the restaurant deter you. Even though it’s a small space, they’ve gone all out to create the sort of atmosphere you’d expect to find in a larger and more expensive establishment. The staff was extremely friendly and made helpful recommendations, even stopping to chat a bit when they came to the table, despite it being a busy Saturday night. It’s a family run business, and it definitely had the welcoming feel that you only get in that kind of place.
The plating of the food was outstanding! We got the million dollar burger and enchiladas, and they were both displayed beautifully and were absolutely delicious. It was a meal that I would have expected to pay a lot more for in a trendy concept restaurant, but I was shocked at how great of an experience we got for $15-$20 per plate. Lots of places say their food is ‘made with love’, but here it’s very evident that they genuinely care about serving the best food they possibly can.
To summarize, Lujos has the best of everything; exceptionally good food that’s presented beautifully, made and served by a caring staff in a friendly and welcoming environment. You love to see local businesses thrive, and judging by the fact that they have over 300 reviews despite only being open for 6 months, for a 4.9 out of 5, I hope they’re well on their way to being one of Gilbert’s top restaurants.

The meal, food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing!! They catered to everyone in the parties individual needs and were so great about making substitutions. The food was fantastic and by far the best Mexican in the area!!! On top of that the presentation itself was beautiful and the food came out so fast. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming and they truly understand what hospitality is.They even made a small serving of cactus for us to try (which was also phenomenal). Wonderful spot!!! I would recommend to all in the area looking for great food.

Lujos Cocina Mexicana exceeded all expectations. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh ingredients, made to order, and full of complex flavors. Portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful; you can truly tell the chef has an incredible eye for details. It was our first time visiting, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating, which made the experience even better.
The owner/chef is clearly passionate about his craft, and it shows in every aspect of the meal. I especially loved that the food was served on real plates rather than in Styrofoam containers—it added such a thoughtful, elevated touch.
Although my son and I couldn’t be together today on his birthday, I ordered a slice of chocolate cake to celebrate, and it was presented in the most beautiful, heartfelt way. That gesture meant more than I can express.

Our first time in and it did not disappoint!! We came for lunch and it was amazing! Super friendly, fresh food, and large portions. If hungry you must try their version of the Sloppy Joe, the Sloppy Juan, it’s delicious! Tacos were great. Chips and queso is a must.

Excellent presentation and amazing flavor! The dark, modern and upscale ambiance of the restaurant allows the vibrant food presentation to really shine. The portions are very generous, and the recipes were truly thought out with great care and detail. Unique and memorable. Can’t wait to come back — need to save room for cake next time!

You’re about to change your fave taco/burrito spot to Lujos! Fresh, high quality, pride shines through the service and food, friendly staff, and insanely tasty eats. We love their breakfast burritos too! These churro waffles were so scrumptious and a work of art. The sauces are delish and we love coming here. Would highly recommend!

This food was so good! I’ve eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants and their food was awesome. We ordered the carne asada fries and red enchilada with Birria. Good carne asada lately has been hard to find and same thing goes for Birria and it was great. Definitely recommend.
