La Cueva is a cozy dark bar in the evening just a few blocks away from Oaxaca Centro. Romero and staff do a great job crafting cocktails here. They have very nice mezcal and Oaxacan Rum selections. When we were there (after having mezcal for several days) we fell in love with two clarified rum cocktails. Nice folks, tasty drinks and a cool Oaxacan vibe. We almost made it 3 nights in a row. Don’t miss this one.

My favorite bar in Oaxaca! Located just outside the touristy center so they have a mix of locals and travelers. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff, some of whom speak English. They offer cocktails, Mezcal, and some good craft beers. It’s a great place to sample Mezcal – they’re not pushy like some of the mezcalerias, and they have a wide variety of mezcals including a lot of clay pot distilled ‘ancestrals’.

Enjoyed this place a lot. Everything was really great- the staff are super nice and professional, the cocktails are special and well made, and the specialty beer they have is delicious. Awesome atmosphere as well with candle’s and flavored water to go with your drinks. Recommended cocktail bar in the center of the city.

Walked past it, thought it looked good and the ambiance was nice. Got in for a beer, stayed the whole night. The owner was super friendly. The barman doing the cocktail was so into it, he looked like he was putting his soul in every mixed drink he was making. The vibe was really nice overall, and the crowd looked like hipster bourgeois from the city. Also, it’s possible to be served in french there
