We were hesitant at first, due to minimal people parked outside. Turns out we be the rush! It was absolutely what we wanted. The breakfast was big and delicious. I had the vegan hash and my bf had a breakfast bagel. They both were huge and yummy! I would go back.

A nice Cafe on the corner of the street. They have a variety of food and the quality is great. They also have a lot of options for pastries and baked goods. The atmosphere is very nice and comfy. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The prices here are on the high side. Overall, this place is a very good place to come with friends and family.

Was just looking for somewhere to kill some time and SUPER THRILLED to have found this place!
Even more excited that they offer a well-made, traditional Cuban sandwich. Staff was excellent (shoutout to Grace!)

I will absolutely put this on my radar for future visits

Too expensive for what it offers. The only thing I enjoyed was their matcha and the ambiance of the place. We ordered a Pekara breakfast and a bagel sandwich. The bread on both orders was unfortunately hard and not fresh, the bacon was also not fresh (it tasted like it had been sitting done), and the bagel sandwich only had 2 slices of bacon in it, which I thought was little for the bagel’s size and price. Additionally, the customer service was not friendly or welcoming at all. I expected better from a local bakery shop.

Pekara Bakery & Bistro has some delicious food, but pricing on certain items feels a bit high. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel, which was tasty, but at $15 after tax, it didn’t feel worth the price—especially with a $2 upcharge for egg. That’s a bit excessive.

On the other hand, the smoked salmon bagel was absolutely delicious and worth every penny. No complaints there.

Overall, the food is great, but some items are overpriced. If the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel were a bit cheaper, this would easily be a 9 or 9.2 out of 10. As it stands, I’d rate it a solid 8.5/10—definitely worth a visit, but be mindful of the prices.

Was in a car accident earlier today, and the staff here were absolutely incredible. Even though they were already closed, they welcomed me, my boyfriend, and my dog inside so we could stay warm and even offered us drinks. I haven’t had the chance to dine here yet, but I will definitely be coming back. I’m truly grateful for their kindness today – thank you so much❤️

Excellent gem in the Champaign area. I ordered pickup: monte cristo crepe and the mushroom goat cheese quiche. Both were delicious! We also each got a side of potatoes, which we probably could have shared. Very big portions.
We will definitely be back.
EDIT: came back for dine-in and got the quiche, omelet, and chicken pesto crepe and it was delicious! We also ordered coffee – the Nutella mocha.

Menu seemed great, advertised local and fresh foods but all dishes did not reflect that. The best item was the quiche, it was authentic and fresh. The sandwich used canned ingredients (peppers). The bagel was advertised as made fresh daily but did not taste as if it was. It was very chewy and cold.

Overall mid food, not as fresh as advertised. the quiche is the freshest item, should try that.

Super busy place and the wait for food was a bit long so don’t go when you are starving.

Salmon lox needed a bit dill cream cheese or some element to lift it.

Beef au jus was super dry with really hard bread.

Red pepper tomato soup was excellent

Salad was fresh

Donuts …. tasty for the sugar bees in the group , I passed on the fluffy over sweet nothingness

Frustratingly, this used to be one of the few places I could eat at in Champaign as a strict vegan. Unfortunately, they are no longer vigilant about cross contamination, and an item I ordered off their “vegan” menu had a slice of ham/bacon on it, from another sandwich cut with the same utensil. I recognize that I am stricter than most about stuff like this but pekara used to meet that standard. Very disappointing, as I was a regular customer.
