Tortillas for my enchiladas were raw and rubbery, my cup of lemonade was filthy and tasted like straight powder, and the service was so odd. The waiters and waitresses were mainly just standing around the drink machine talking and staring at customers, my own waiter treated me as if I had 2 heads, and the music was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. Didn’t even take the food to-go because it was that bad.

This place is either hit or miss with food. This will be the last miss for us. Street tacos are a favorite but the steak is either excellent or its a a bunch of burnt crispy charcoal. It has been the latter more often than not. Moving on to find more consistent food.

Nice Mexican food spot in Topeka. Came recommended by a coworker if my husband and it did not disappoint. The inside is small and the place was full, that’s when you know it’s good! Queso was runny but very flavorful and salsa had great flavor. I had the shrimp tacos, did not disappoint, comes with rice and beans. My husband had the tamale deluxe plate that had nachos on the bottom, a tamale and two taquitos. You definitely get bang for your buck! If you haven’t been, don’t sleep on this spot!

This was about my 4th visit. The chips were old and refried to appear fresh. The food was super salty. I will never go back!!! The manager was rude and offered no resolution at all.

I love El Ranchito! Chips and salsa are great (rare in Kansas) and the portions are generous!! I always leave stuffed! The guac is the best in town and the mix fajitas is amazing!! For the price of fast food these days, I’d rather go here and eat real food!!

We stayed at the hotel across the street around Christmas, and finding this restaurant was a pleasant surprise! We walked in and it was a total vibe, music playing, everyone seems to be having a great time. Our flavored margaritas (peach and melon) were amazing, and perfectly strong. The chimichanga and the steak/shrimp, cheese and rice are highly recommended. Our server was on top of it too-we never sat with dirty dishes at our table, he was great. We are very glad we found this place and can’t wait to come back when we pass through.

We didn’t like the chips and salsa. The queso tasted like velveeta. It took a long time for our waiter to show up at our table. We ordered a tamale and the meat inside was burnt. We ordered a cheese and onion enchilada and were served a beef enchilada. We sent it back and they brought out an enchilada that cold inside and had an entire onion in it. The staff was happy and pleasant. The atmosphere was nice because it was an old Carlos O Kelley’s.
