Stopped by for lunch while working in town. Fried fish, ox tail, Mac and cheese, yams, green beans, mashed potatoes, white rice. Let me tell you its like walking into grandma’s kitchen. I ordered fried fish, green beans, Mac and cheese, cabbage, it was the most fresh flavorful meal ive eaten in a while. Fish was crispy not greasy, cabbage and green beans jad flavor, seasoning and wonderful. If I’m passing thru or working in town again im headed here.

Must try! The food is well prepared. The oxtails are a must try, the meat falls off the bone. The mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese were so flavorful. The yams were just the level of sweetness.

NOTE: Menu changes daily!

On our way to Galveston from Fort Worth area, we decided to hunt down good restaurants along our route. We happened upon The Oxtail Factory.

The food is served in a serving line style. There is a bit of wait, but after eating — we can definitely see why! The food may also seem pricey but it is worth every cent!

First – the food is amazing! AMAZING, AMAZING! it’s advertised as soul food, and that is exactly what it is. Everything was seasoned perfectly. So delicious. The tiny bit of food we had left on our plates was only because we were stuffed!!

My husband had oxtail (best he ever had and hes from South Louisiana), while my son and I had fried chicken. It was good!! They also had smother turkey thighs that looked delicious. They don’t just focus on their meats either. The sides brought back a lot of nostalgia. The type of special sides that alwaya got cooked on Sunday to eat after church. Superior quality. I could go for the sides alone. The most notable in my opinion– dirty rice, black eyed peas, cabbage, and sweet potatoes. My son and husband both loved the mac and cheese. It was very well seasoned!

The atmosphere is calm and very clean! Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys delicious, like your grandma made, soul food!

Came here for the first time with my kids. Each entree comes with a choice of cornbread or dinner rolls, and 3 sides. We ordered the fried chicken, oxtails (pot roast type), pig feet, peach cobbler, and banana pudding. They were all pretty heavy plates that will put you to sleep lol. The pig feet were very flavorful, but I wish there were some more meat than straight skin. The oxtails were amazing, but I wish they had some of those larger bone pieces. They were mostly medium to small pieces. The fried chicken is super delicious. The desserts and sides are really good. We got the mashed potatoes, cabbage, mac’n cheese, cajun rice, and yams. Wished the mac’n cheese was thicker and cheesier, but each soul food place has their own version. The menu changes everyday so be sure to follow them on FB and/or call them that day if you’re wondering.

All the staff are friendly and fast. Lots of tables to dine on. Lots of parking around the building. Overall, a bit pricier than I would like, but it’s quality food and the portions are a decent size.

Down home cooking done right. People are friendly, service is fast, portions are large (we split a plate for lunch and got extra sides). We were closing our eyes while eating to savor the taste. Pork steak was amazing and bigger than my hand.
Lots of locals and a diverse crowd – young kids, workmen, retirees.
This restaurant seems like a movie set.
Stop by. Get food. You’ll be glad you did!

Spent the weekend in Crawford with my dad and on our way back to Houston decided to get lunch in Hearn. After looking at the menus for several places, we settled on the Oxtail Factory and I am so glad we did. We both had the beef tips…so. good. The meat was so tender and very flavorful. I’m a sides girl, so I ate my mac n cheese and cornbread dressing first…both delish. I really wish I’d thought to get some dressing to go-I’d be eating it for breakfast right now. Took my beef tips home for my mom because even though I really liked them, I’m a really good daughter and thought she’d like them… and she does! She had some for dinner and just told me she’s having the rest this morning. Portions are great and everyone was so friendly. Feels like you’re just having lunch at a friend’s house…a friend who can cook. Thanks for a great lunch, y’all.

The Oxtail Factory: A Hidden Gem (5 stars)

This place deserves all the hype! The Oxtail Factory isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. We went in with friends and left feeling like family. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food? Oh man, the food!

Everything we tried was a 10 out of 10. The oxtails were melt-in-your-mouth tender, the fried chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy, and the sides were all delicious and homemade-tasting. We especially loved the mac & cheese, the smothered pork chops, and the candied yams.

I can’t believe this place isn’t on every “must-try” list in Texas! Texas Monthly, take note! This is a hidden gem that deserves all the recognition.

Highly recommend!

We had the Oxtails (never had them before) they were SOOOO good, tender and flavorful!! The potatoes with onions, mac and cheese, and green beans were also excellent!
The banana pudding had a great flavor but there wasn’t much pudding and there were way too many Nilla Wafers. All employees were super nice! We live 2 hours away but will come back, hopefully REALLY SOON!!! We wanted to have the pork steak but it’s not always available, we’ll call first before we head that way next time and hopefully they’ll have it. I wish they had plates to eat from instead of the Styrofoam containers. But it didn’t stop me from eating every bite
