We had a Valentine’s Day reservation and fully expected it to be busy, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived on time and waited 10–15 minutes for a table that the hostess said needed to be cleaned, but it appeared already clean the entire time, but no big deal. We were then seated at a table that was essentially in the hotel lobby, near the bar, but directly in front of the front doors and front desk. It felt more like sitting in a lobby than in a restaurant, which was very odd. I’m not sure if that’s their normal setup or just due to the holiday, but be aware that you may end up seated in the lobby rather than an actual dining area (pics below).
After ordering one appetizer, a soup, and 2 entrees, we waited over 40 minutes and never received our appetizer, despite seeing nearby tables, who ordered after us, receive theirs and even get their entrees. No one provided any updates or explanation during the wait. We eventually asked to pay for our drinks and leave, which they did comp (it was 2 diet cokes). The waitress then came out and said, “we have your appetizer, we’re just busy,” rather than apologizing or acknowledging the lack of communication. Also, if you had our appetizer ready, why was it still in the back and not on our table?
We completely understand delays on a busy holiday, but basic communication and attentiveness should still be expected, especially at the price points this restaurant has. The food may be phenomenal, but I’ll never know, because I can’t justify returning to a restaurant that lacks basic customer service and communication.

Our 21st wedding anniversary was spent at Aviles and we did not want to leave.
The dinner was Michelin star spectacular!
My husband had the Pork Chop Manzana with Mashed potatoes and he cleaned his plate.
I had the Bahia seafood stew and I couldn’t stop eating but I had to because the entree was huge. Desert complemented the entire entree. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation!

INCREDIBLE! We have stayed here many times in the past but never gave this place even a single thought. Tonight was the night, we were beat from out travels and decided to give it a shot….WOW. Everything was very good, from the drinks to bread and butter to the appetizers, then the entrees. The Duck was out of this world

I look forward to every holiday for an opportunity to go to Aviles for their holiday buffet. As with all of the other holidays, Thanksgiving was fantastic. There are three main courses and many of side dishes to go with them. All there was turkey and smoked ham and best of all prime rib. I love this place. I love the atmosphere. And with a new bar and bartender, I found the mixed drinks to be Unique and delicious. I will always be back!

Avilés is by far my favorite restaurant to go to! Whether it’s for breakfast or dinner, I know I will be taken care of by the wonderful staff and served the best quality food! An excellent choice for an intimate evening, a celebration dinner or just a casual meal with fine dining flavors! Highly recommended!

Love this restaurant every time I go I have a wonderful experience. There were four of us. The service was great, very attentive. This Thanksgiving buffet was great, a lot to choose from. I myself had the prime rib. It was delicious. I also had the crab stuffed flounder. The desserts were delicious also. They do a great buffet on the holidays. I would recommend this restaurant.

St. Augustine, FL. Oh what a divine breakfast we had at Aviles! Shiraz, who greeted us and served us, was so wonderfully warm, quiet and sweet. Just what you need in the morning. We were the second table to be seated.
I tried shakshuka for the first time. It was incredible. And so was Steve’s croissant, omelet, our coffee, and my Cuban toast. Steve took extra long because on top of his croissant he ate my Cuban toast! They put little jars of Dickinson’s preserves on the table with a nob of real butter so of course he slowed down to savor that.
Aviles felt like a bright cocoon in the morning light with the flowers outside the shuttered windows. What a good memory.

Food was very disappointing. Crab cakes terrible, imitation. The TomaHawk steak was a happy meal version of a steak not even 2 oz. For $70. The lobster bisque was cold. The waitress Lisa was nice.
