From the moment you step inside, the tone is set by classic appointments and a sense of relaxed confidence. A bronze moose stands watch like an old friend who’s seen a few winters and approves of your life choices. The lobby beyond feels like a love letter to days gone by, when hotels were destinations, not pit stops, and craftsmanship mattered. The finer things in life are not shouted here, they’re upholstered, polished, and calmly waiting for you to notice.
The restaurant’s name itself tips the hat to history, honoring Stanley K. Hathaway, a former Wyoming governor and U.S. Secretary of the Interior. It’s a subtle reminder that this place understands legacy and carries it lightly.
A particularly delightful surprise is just off the entrance: private restrooms that feel like a time capsule in the best way. Think 1970s pink tile paired unapologetically with high-end marble, because why not both? Even better, there’s a sitting room immediately afterward, perfect for regrouping, reflecting, or simply admiring that someone once decided restrooms deserved their own lounge.
Sunday lunch buffet is where Hathaway’s really flexes. It’s expansive without being chaotic and indulgent without apology. The bread pudding alone deserves a standing ovation, followed closely by excellent chocolate cake and classic strawberry shortcake. Savory options hold their own: smoked salmon, prawns, prime rib carved just the way it should be, a generous salad bar, fruit bar, and a made-to-order omelet station. And then, because life is full of mysteries, there’s a make-your-own waffle station. On a buffet. Unexpected? Yes. Welcome? Absolutely.
Service is attentive, warm, and genuinely professional, adding to the pleasure of some top-tier people watching. You’ll see road-weary travelers, the occasional trucker, and members of Cheyenne’s quiet high society, all comfortably coexisting. It’s a uniquely Wyoming mix that somehow works perfectly.
Overall, Hathaway’s offers a relaxed, dignified atmosphere that feels increasingly rare. It’s a place where you can linger, eat well, admire exceptional details throughout the hotel lobby, and enjoy the feeling that, for at least one meal, you’re participating in a more gracious era. If you appreciate tradition, quality, and a little humor baked into your surroundings, Hathaway’s delivers with confidence and charm.
Service was good, the menu choices varied. The food looked good but disappointing, both of our dishes had cold toast/muffins , avocado on my avocado dish was sparse and the hollandaise on my husbands benedict overwhelmed the plate.
The Hathaway restaurant was fabulous, but what made it one of the best experiences I’ve had at a resort was Makenzie .Her cheery personality and calm demeanor ( even when she was training) was so refreshing as it is rare these days . So shout out to Makenzie for strong customer service skills! She even gave me a tour of the banquet/ buisness rooms .Food was great!
Speaking of banquet halls everything was well appointed and very inviting. I would highly recommend weddings, meetings and other fabulous celebrations at this property as they continously remodel and upgrade ! The views on golf course are stunning!
The pool was refreshing and I saw a young man checking PH balance through the day . Great care! All in all one of the best overall experiences I’ve had ! And the rates are low for all that you get!
Gift shop has all you need as well and there is a Sinclair as well on property hidden behind the trees! Thank you Little America! I’m a huge fan!
Price per person: …
There needs to be a front of house hostess or manager to orchestrate the team. You can’t expect the servers to be doing so many things at once and expect to give great service every time. If anything, your bottleneck should be the kitchen, not front of house where you have higher risk of losing customers. Get them seated, snacking. Land their order.
If I wasn’t stuck at this location I’d woulda left after waiting 25min to get seated, 15 to put in my order. Very inefficient. I’ve been waiting 15 min for my check.
