Have eaten here several times and had very good food at a somewhat reasonable price. Service has been very good generally but a little slow on our most recent visit. Compared with The Crab Shack in Pigeon Forge the food at Captain Crab is slightly better and always served Hot at a more reasonable price.

Food was delicious, but expect to get messy. They provide a bib and gloves but my gloves tore quickly. Best advice is to embrace getting messy and chow down. We also ordered the captain’s platter appetizer and all was great except the fried mushrooms. I really wish restaurants would season the breading for the mushrooms.

Updated review 3/5/26: Unfortunately our service tonight was lacking compared to normal. We were the second couple in the restaurant and bout 20 minutes in my husband asked about our calamari. The server was a little snippy and said “I haven’t been to the window lately but I’ll check.” She then comes out and apologizes that she forgot to ring our order in. We had to wait a lot longer because now the restaurant was full.
Then, the crab legs in both of our boils were like warm and very hard to get the meat out due to being under done. After a few minutes both our crab legs were very cold. There’s no way they were cooked long enough. My guess is the other items in the boil cook first and doesn’t give the crabs long enough to cook. We have loved this place since they opened, but are not looking forward to a return visit anytime soon.
Previous: Huge portions. We split four 1/2 lb items and added two lobster tails from my husband’s birthday. The shrimp (without head) were biggest, most succulent shrimp I have had in this area. The only thing is our corn tasted frozen / reheated / not fresh, so that made us wonder about the seafood quality: however, did not get sick and will give it another shot!

I went on a Wednesday and it was amazing!
The waitress was extremely nice and helpful.
Clean, well the place! Haha I wasn’t too bad after the cream boil!

So my friend and I went for raw oysters. When they brought them to the table… they just didn’t look right. I thought I would try one and they seemed like they had been shucked much earlier and stored in the fridge. My friend complained after we both choked down another one. So they only charged us the ones we had eaten. We had already ordered the sampler plate with wings, fries, cheese sticks and fried mushrooms. First let me say… I didn’t know someone could even mess up fried mushrooms but these sucked! The fries were fine but I could have gotten same stuff at grocery store and air fried it for much less and probably better quality! I don’t do the boils and I don’t eat that so that might be their saving grace. I ordered Mojito and the mint in the drink was brown!

Stopped in for the first time to give this place a try and I don’t eat seafood so I had the chicken fingers and onion rings. My hubby got the boiled meal and it looked good and he ate it all. The hush puppies were really good and crispy. My chicken was just average , but I was at a seafood place so that is almost to be expected. Service was fair, she could have come back and refilled our drinks more often. Very well decorated inside and very clean.

My new favorite seafood spot close to home! Second time coming here and it did not disappoint! Our server Chesney was so upbeat and full of energy. She kept our drinks refilled and even went as far as entertaining my kids! Talk about a win win! We started off with the captain special 10/10! I got the low country boil- spicy and my fiancée got the low country boil -non spicy. 1000/10 Such a good price for the amount of food you get! My daughter got the chicken tender basket with Cajun fries and she ate every bit of it. We also ordered some mozzarella sticks which were good but we were too full to finish them.

Boiled food was awesome. Everyone we have heard from says the fried food is not great, and we can confirm that. But the boil is why you go. Not bad pricing for it either. Wait staff could have been more attentive. They were nice but could do better on refills.

We have wanted to try this restaurant for quite some time. It’s been around for a while, and while the reviews were mostly positive about the food, several mentioned inconsistent service, so we went in with that in mind.
Unfortunately, our experience confirmed those concerns. While the food itself was pretty good—we ordered the current Christmas special and found it decent—the service fell short in several areas. Our server, JC, seemed overwhelmed or disorganized. We didn’t receive some items we asked for, including gloves and lemons for our bucket, and our waters were forgotten initially. Another server eventually noticed and checked on us, which we appreciated.
Our order also came out incorrectly, and there wasn’t much follow-up or opportunity to have it corrected. It felt like there may not have been enough staff, as the bartender ended up helping with service as well. The women at the front, including the hostess and the bartender, were wonderful and welcoming, which made the contrast in service more noticeable.
I don’t usually leave long reviews, but as someone who has worked in food service before, I understand how important communication and follow-through are. The food has potential, but the service experience needs improvement to truly match it.
I hope this feedback helps, because this place could be great with a stronger system and more consistent service.

I’ve seen a few posts for Captain Crab, and since I had a craving for seafood, I thought I’d get a catfish sandwich or something like that for takeout. I did nit dine in, but placed an online order. The sandwich dream quickly dissolved when I saw that they had lunch-sized boils and purchaed it. All I can say is if that’s lunch portion, I wonder what is dinner size?? Lovely shrimp, potatoes, corn, andouille, egg and crab were cooked to perfection and double-bagged. The broth was very tasty. The “to go” bag contained 3 bibs, 3 pairs of gloves, forks and oodles of napkins. My bib showed every sign of enjoyment. The gloves were not utilized as this meal deserved to have fingers licked! Try as I might to shove it ALL in, I could only eat half. Go if you haven’t been!
