Established in 1959, Pizza Buona is the original pizzeria of Echo Park/Silverlake and is family owned and operated. We have remained a staple in the Los Angeles area due to our freshly homemade sauces, bread, pizza dough, and pastas. We take pride in the quality of our food and our authentic recipes straight from Italy. We have been voted (Thrillist) best pizza in Echo Park and in the top eight best pizzas in Los Angeles. With sixty six years of serving Angelenos and those abroad, we look forward to serving you next.
Pizza & pasta served up with beer & wine in a homey, wood-paneled, old-school establishment.

I’ve been coming to Pizza Buona since the old corner spot on Alvarado and Sunset, and I still miss that location. The new place is different, but having parking is a huge plus. The Margherita pizza is still my go-to—perfect crust and fresh basil. The meatball sub is exactly how I remember it, saucy and filling. And the lasagna still feels like the definition of comfort food. Glad they kept the classics right.

It’s not terrible… but it’s not amazing either. It’s kind of that middle-ground pizza experience like the cinematic equivalent of a movie you watch on a plane and say, “Yeah, that was fine,” and then never think about again.
The food’s solid. Classic pizza parlor stuff, no frills, no fireworks. Definitely not “best pizza in LA” territory, despite what the internet prophets may claim. But it gets the job done.
The place itself is small, so if you’re walking in, expect to wait a bit.

I was so excited to see that Pizza Buona was still open or should I say re opened a block down and across the street from the original location. The location might have changed but the menu and the level of quality hasn’t. The food is outstanding, I had the veal cutlet that comes with spaghetti and choice of salad or soup. The salad was so good, classic Italian salad and big, the spaghetti was perfect with an amazing meat sauce that was an amazing compliment to the delicious breaded veal cutlet, the whole meal was large enough that I had half to take home which was just as good warmed up later as it was fresh. My daughter had the fettuccini alfredo with broccoli, wow, I’m actually planning a trip back tonight just to have that myself, it was probably the best tasting alfredo sauce I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend Pizza Buona, please don’t let this restaurant disappear again!!!

The pizza here is excellent. Really good fluffy, yet crispy, bottomed crust! They are not lying when they say the don’t skimp on toppings! There was definitely two layers of pepperoni on the pepperoni deluxe. We added mushrooms and black olives and they were really nicely blended in so you could tell the pie was made to order.

Pizza Buona is a very quaint but great place for Italian food from pastas to pizza! We carbo load here for the LA Marathon. The servings are plentiful and very tasty as is the pizza! 🙂 Highly recommend it. It is easy walking distance from the Lexmar Hotel.

This may be the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. The chicken and bacon deluxe blew my mind away. It was so good. My girlfriend and I got into a big argument over who is going to have the last piece. She wrestled me to the ground and won. I’m still a little bitter. That pizza made me emotionally….erect.

I’m giving this a 2 star review because the pizza was good. However my experience here was not pleasant. We wanted to dine in but the place was small and it does not accommodate for couples. The lady that attended me assumed I wanted to order to go. There could have been a better and more professional way to let us know that they had the second table reserved and was asked to wait standing up. Definitely was not a pleasant or welcoming experience at all. Silverware, plates and napkins were not included.

First… don’t be fooled by going to the pizza place just down the block on the corner with the similar name… (seriously don’t). It’s easy to make the mistake, so letting you know now: just make sure you come to PIZZA BUONA. This is the original, family-owned, local LA spot in Echo Park for decades and they recently-ish moved from the corner to this spot!
I ordered cheese with fresh basil. Sauce is flavorful, crust is delicious, cheese is perfectly browned and stringy. My friend got the fettuccine alla vodka that she graciously let me try…creamy and tomato-ey…yum! We both had leftovers, and saved room for the homemade tiramisu which was decadent and so satisfying. We left full, happy, and feeling good about supporting locally owned business! I’ll be coming back and bringing friends… I hear your delivery is great too. Pizza Buona, you’re the real deal!
