Hot and sour soup was excellent but the crispy duck looked suspiciously like chicken, not like any crispy duck ive ever seen.
Firstly being vegan the fact the chef came and spoke to me about how my dish would be made is great, and gave me the confidence you understood my requirements.
Doing the sweet corn soup with no egg was wonderful! and I have fullerly enjoyed it, the adding of spring onion has given a more complex flavour I often feel sweetcorn soup lacks.
The salt and pepper bean curd, definitely hit the salt and pepper taste brilliantly, although id normally want a crispier texture, however the tender texture I was given I imagine will be great in a satay or other sauce.
Its hard to get boiled rice wrong but that was perfectly fine.
Overall I had a great meal and experience and will be recommending my vegan friends to come try your options
The first concern was that the food arrived less than 10 minutes after we ordered so it obviously wasn’t cooked fresh.
I had vegetables in chilli which wasn’t too bad but nothing special with salt and pepper chips.
As you can see from the photo the chips were dry with hardly any flavouring on, which is poor when you consider it cost £5.50 for it!
The staff were ok, one older gentleman was friendly but the other was quite the opposite, no please or thank you and never once looked even close to cracking a smile.
Definitely wouldn’t go again.
2 years ago I went here and wow the food was something else and my parents were looking forward to it tonight as well
The beef pork & prawns all dishes lacked the authentic Chinese flavour
It was worse than takeaway standards
It was so bland that even people who can’t do spice would say it’s below average
I had to ask for extra chilli oil
When you pay £75 off for 3 people in a restaurant you expect a certain quality
This was very disappointing and I can assure you I won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone
The waiters kept rushing us for ordering and kept asking how it was later on and when I tried explaining my disappointment they genuinely couldn’t be bothered either
On this visit I have to say I will not be returning.
The food was good and the staff polite and always on hand..
The issue is the decor. Walking in you are met with a dimly lit room and an extremely worn red pattered carpet that is now black due to foot fall over the years.
Heading upstairs to the toilets you are met with a damp smell at the top of the stairs. Entering the male toilets is like stepping back to the 80s.
The venue just looks uncared for and this lets the reputation down hugely.
I was a huge fan of the place but now it’s fallen off my list of venues to eat from..
For a restaurant that is known locally to be Very very pricey it is clear the financial returns do not go into the upkeep of this venue..
It’s a shame, because the food is really good but the service just isn’t; really lets it down in my opinion.
