Caught this place right before closing. We got the mushroom swiss burgers and the kiddo got the chicken strips. Great portion size and the burgers were cooked great. Fries were a touch salty. Staff was awesome – super friendly and great recommendations. We ended up eating in our car on the way to the next stop – but the seating area was very cute and friendly. Not sure I’ll ever be up for taking on the monster, but it sounds like a challenge!

Short take: if you find yourself even arguably in the area, get to the TP Cafe for a quintessential burger joint with a vibe you won’t find anywhere else and burger, fries, and shakes that will stand against any in Oregon!

As we progress through our Great Oregon Burger Bucket List, sometimes you got to go out of your way to find another town. That lead us to Chiloquin and the TP Cafe. Serendipity, you beautiful orchestrator of fate!

The TP Cafe rocketed up our list of favorites before we even had our food with jammin classic tunes blastin out of a speaker and a small town burger joint feel that makes you a neighbor the second you pull in. The owner was beyond friendly, confidently proclaiming they would be our favorite.

A huge variety of options was almost intimidating, but they had a family special calling our name. We added a Hobbit Burger to try one of their specialties. Upgraded our sodas to shakes (and then had to pick from over 40 flavors!).

The food came quick despite being a large order and I knew I was in love from the homemade fry sauce alone. These fries were perfect, salty with a hint of seasoning, fried to just a little bit of a crisp. I’m already sad they are gone. Then came the burgers.

The small cheeseburgers are everything a simple burger should be. Imagine Wendy’s from heaven, and you’re almost there. Good meat, great seasoning from the grill.

The Hobbit burger was a very unique experience. Grilled Onions and bacon give it a great savory flavor, complimented perfectly by the Hobbit Sauce- which my fiance correctly guessed was made with a balsamic vinegar base. It was an artisanal burger hidden in this out of the way burger stand, and I loved that they don’t fall for the classic trap of trying to make a burger overly fancy. Just a genius twist on a burger that pulled off big city taste.

And the shakes, man… The shakes! I’m still working on my black cherry chocolate and my fiance loved her lavender shake (and the lavender did great at calming her down after I drove her an hour out of our way). They have that burger stand milkshake taste that I can never recreate at home. Just like your favorite shake from your childhood!

The TP Cafe is solidly in our top 3 of Oregon’s best burger joint. Find your way to the charming town of Chiloquin and do yourself a favor by getting some grub at the TP Cafe!

Bad service, bad food, bad atmosphere. I’ve given this place a couple of tries Thinking maybe they were having a “bad” day but really it’s bad all the time. NEVER waste your money on something that comes with “bacon”. They don’t have bacon they have pork fat diced up that they put on your BLT or Burger and say it’s bacon. The same guy has been working there for a couple of months and he’s the equivalent of a wet sandwich. Don’t waste your time or money.

Took my brother & sister in laws here for lunch before heading to the antique store down the road. Cute little hole in the wall in a cute little town.

I enjoyed their Ranchero burger (spicy), steak fries, & peanut butter shake. My husband had their classic burger, steak fries, & soda. Our daughter had their chicken strips, steak fries, & Oreo shake. Brother in law had the tuna melt, steak fries, onion rings, & soda. Sister in law had the Philly, steak fries, onion rings, and soda. They all enjoyed their meals as well.

Outdoor seating only with 3 large picnic tables. Parking for about 4-6 cars.

Nice American spot with great burgers and great service.

Fries are some of the best I’ve ever had and I think that was the best shake.

Lad running the window was doing a great job with a smile.

Oh my god the cheese steak fries. I consider myself a cheese steak connoisseur and these were the real deal… They were out of hoagie rolls but I was 100% happy with subbing fries for bread.

So relieved when a friend stopped by, while they were traveling to California, that you are open on Mondays now!! Absolutely loved it! Especially the 44 oz Milkshake! Chicken strips and onion rings were amazing! And they absolutely enjoyed their burger and french fries! Hit the spot, for sure! I definitely will come back and they’re gonna be taking the 97 instead of I5 from now on so they can try the rest of the menu!!
Great job guys!!!

Food was great, so if you need a bite this is a great option, no doubt about it. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time.
Please be aware that this isn’t a full restaurant, as it lacks restrooms. It does have some benches and tables to sit on though.
Also, know that their decor might depict the most common values of most rural areas in Oregon, just in case that is relevant to you.
