SCALA pays homage to the importance of stairs for humanity. For thousands of years, stairs have been a physical representation of spiritual elevation and the climb to knowledge. Just like a staircase symbolically suggests a journey between two spaces, SCALA uses this analogy to welcome its guests to step into its own journey. The restaurant focuses on a Mediterranean cuisine with classical French techniques. With idyllic views of the fields in Siġġiewi, the restaurant is nestled between some of Malta’s most arable land & the rich culture inside the old capital city. We look forward to welcoming our guests at SCALA and have them enjoy both our outdoor area together with our quaint converted house that has been there for over 200 years.

Scala is an absolute gem. From the moment the dishes arrived, it was clear how much care and thought goes into every plate. The food was truly amazing, beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with attention to detail.
The menu is exceptionally well thought out, offering a balanced selection that feels both creative and purposeful rather than overwhelming. Each dish highlights the quality of the local, fresh ingredients, allowing them to shine without being overcomplicated.
You can really taste the passion in the cooking, everything feels intentional, refined, and crafted with genuine care. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish, and a place I would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates thoughtfully prepared food done right.

Impeccable atmosphere, hospitality and above all the food. We took the rabbit ravioli and casarecce as a starter which were truly a breath of fresh air. Good portions for a starter and very original tastes. As a main we both had the fillet of beef which was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

What an amazing experience! The location of the restaurant allows for a beautiful view over half the island. The service is impeccable and the setting indoors was just perfect with soft, relaxing music. The food was a beautifully crafted taste adventure from beginning to end. The snacks all have lovely, balanced flavours and are picture perfect. The main course of the fillet and the sea bass were absolutely delicious. The desserts which included the chocolate mouse, apple crumble and homemade ice-cream were also beautiful taste adventures. This is a magical dining experience with all the effort that is taken to ensure you have a memorable time.

We came to Malta, we went to Socily, we ate…..but nothing comes close to our experience with Scala. It was amazing!! The chef/owner Sheldon friendly and accessible. The lobster ravioli, the beef sliders…..even the sourdough bread…..all delicious!! What a wonderful way of spending our last day in Malta!! Memorable. If I come back to Malta, I’ll come back to Scala!

We travelled a long way to dine here and left a little disappointed. Was sat in a back room on our own. Music was good however not much atmosphere as we were on our own. Food was Ok, not great and very expensive for what you get compared to other places of a similar standard. Ordered one wine from the menu which they didn’t have in stock so had to have another, wasn’t that nice for 42 euros (not a local wine though). Pasta starter with clams was very good, rest of it was quite average. Rabbit stew wasn’t much of a stew. Maybe we caught them in a bad day or off season? Dined on 20th October. Total meal was 142 euros, two starts two mains.

I had some of the best meals of my life here. The flavors are still on my mind – especially the zucchini salad, which was absolutely incredible. For starters, we ordered arancini and the zucchini salad, and every bite felt like a burst of different flavors. My boyfriend had the traditional rabbit, and I tried rabbit meat for the first time in my life – it was simply amazing. Every dish we tasted was full of unique flavors that just explode in your mouth. On top of that, the view and location are beautiful, and the staff are so kind and lovely. It’s also a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Absolutely wonderful – I highly recommend it.

Just finished yet another amazing meal here. We live locally and come here at least twice a month. One of the few restaurants in Malta where you are guaranteed excellent food, 5 star service and a beautiful setting and view. Sheldon the owner and head chef is always jumping from kitchen to front of house to ensure everything is top. Would recommend always asking for cocktail recommendations and the team always have something up their sleeves.
