What a great spot for authentic Honduran food. Service was excellent. Everything we ordered came out hot and freshly prepared. The nachos are some of the best I have ever had in Lafayette. I would highly recommend you give this place a try.

I recently visited La Papa Loca and had a great experience! We ordered the Loco Burrito and a tilapia fish dish (forgot the exact name), and both were delicious.

The Loco Burrito was massive and definitely worth the price, flavorful, filling, and well-prepared. The tilapia was fresh and cooked perfectly, which really stood out. Very well priced !

The service was excellent! Our server took the time to explain the menu, answer our questions, and even share some great recommendations.

Overall, I really enjoyed the food and the warm service. Definitely a spot I’d recommend and look forward to going back!

Was pleasantly surprised by this place!
The atmosphere/vibe is much like any other Mexican restaurant but the food is not like any other Mexican restaurant, very fresh Honduran and Tex Mex food, very large menu as well. The complimentary salsa and creamy chimichurri sauce was so delicious and very unique!!
I got a Sope and Gordita, both very delicious but I would recommend the Gordita, I enjoyed how it was stuffed vs just on top the tortilla, but that is personal preference.
Tortas were also very good! It takes a minute, but I’m fine with it bc the food was cooked fresh and served hot! The Burrito Loco is massive and can definitely feed 2 people easily!
The flan was really good, it’s more like a cheesecake instead of the traditional jelly mold like texture. Like the late open hours as well. Highly recommend this restaurant I Will definitely return to try other things on the menu. Thanks

Googled “Mexican restaurants near me” and chose La Papa Loca…and a very wise choice it was! Cute Honduran atmosphere, friendly service and HUGE portions! Exceeded expectations in flavors and value. The burrito loco was the size of TWO large burritos and the tacos were packed full. Margaritas start at $5.00 and my top shelf Paloma was only $6 bucks! The chips were thin, light and crispy served with a “salsa” that was some sort of (addicting) creamy chimichurri concoction. Steak taco was deliciously seasoned and tender, carnitas taco melted in my mouth and the fish taco was perfectly cooked… slightly breaded and lightly fried. I really appreciated the generous amount of avocado on the salad and the rice was soft and fluffy. The Honduran sliced veggies were also a nice touch. We’ll definitely be back to try more of the MANY dishes offered.

So for my first time here i found it a bit hit or miss. I thought the chips with a spicy cheese sauce was great and different since most places serve salsa. They only have one size margarita and honestly I wish it was bigger, I can’t stand the type of glasses they use for them. I had the Barbacoa and a pork street taco, both were terrific I liked them and look forward to having them again. But the gorditas on the other hand just wasn’t good for me. They were a corn bready shell fried with hard crispy bits in places and soft cornbread areas that were a bit dry. I barely could taste the proteins in them because the shell was just so much. On the last one I opened the shell and just ate the inside. Authentic or not I just didn’t like it. I also had the fried plantains. I liked the unique direction with the condensed milk topping but I could hardly tell if the plantains were fried. They certainly were hot. I just wasn’t a fan of it and have enjoyed fried plantains a few times before elsewhere. I also had the Horchata drink, it was good, maybe heavy on the cinnamon. I enjoyed one elsewhere and it was a milder drink. I would like to try more on the menu because I think the potential is there. There has to be more to like since I loved the tacos. The service was good, generally a clean restaurant. Big place with a big bar. I’ll update next time.

When I drive by this place it doesn’t seem like an “authentic” spot for Mexican food. Luckily I was wrong and finally gave it a try. Ordered a torta which came on a light and fluffy bolillo with lots of flavorful ingredients. Also had a Gordita which had a nice crisp texture. The salsa that came with the chips was not spicy, unfortunately but did have a good flavor. The taco salsas have the spice. Service was friendly, just a little slow. Will definitely keep this one in the rotation.
