I was looking for a decent place to eat in Elmhurst (love the Elmhurst vibe) and this place was calling my name.
Great service, nice atmosphere. I started with a blood orange gin fizz which was tart and delicious. The soup of the day was roasted red pepper and it was creamy without being too thick. Very flavorful!
For my main course I had the short rib grilled cheese (they were very generous with the short rib) with a side salad. The portion was quite generous; I was hoping for dessert but I just didn’t have room for it, so I capped off the meal with a nice espresso.
My server was quite friendly and gave me some good suggestions for my meal.

Earlier this year we discovered this place as another restaurant we wanted to check out had just closed their kitchen for the night. Last night we were unsure what to eat so we stopped by again and had a wonderful date night. Cocktails were perfectly strong and the food was so good! We tried the lamb with veggies and carbonara sausage pasta and also a chocolate cake with berries. The place has such a nice ambience too either for a fun or romantic mood. Manager and staff were so friendly and accommodating. This place deserves more stars.

Our waiter was Dario, who was very knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. He gave us amazing service. He didn’t crowd us but was attentive.
We had Roasted Cauliflower for appetizer and split a Ribeye Steak Sandwich for the main entree. The food was delicious.
This place gets a 5/5 for the food, service, ambiance, cleanliness and drinks.
There is private space in the back for concerts and private parties called space 119 . It can accommodate up to 350 ppl. What a hidden gem!!!

I want to start off by saying their crispy calamari is the best I’ve ever had. Most restaurants can’t ever get it right to the point where it’s rubbery and chewy but they definitely knew what they were doing with it. I had the salmon and my daughter had the kids mac and cheese. It was worth every penny. Their Mac and cheese isn’t like other restaurants who make the kraft mac and cheese, you can tell they actually care about how their food looks and tastes. The drinks are also so good. I had exceptional service from Jaime. Even though I can be a little complicated as a guest, he listened to my needs and made sure they were met. Jason came by to make sure we were doing well also and that’s what I look for in restaurants. I will most definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know and will most certainly be back for more.

We went to this new-to-us restaurant yesterday on the way home from the city. It has a bar area, large nicely decorated indoor dining room and outside dining along the sidewalk. We chose to sit outside since it was beautiful weather.
Our server was Emily, who was so sweet, very attentive and provided great service. My husband and I didn’t have any cocktails – next time. We decided to share a couple items off the menu. We shared the Fig n’ Awesome Burger – fig jam, caramelized onion, arugula, havarti cheese – it was friggin’ amazing!! The restaurant was kind enough to split the burger and put it on two plates. We chose sweet potato fries as our side and they were the best I’ve ever had. They were thicker crinkle cut and had a real nice crisp on the outside but soft on the inside.
We also shared Nonna’s Meatball. There was a slight glitch as they had a huge catering order and had to make new meatballs from scratch so we had to wait a bit to get this appetizer. It gave us time to digest the decadent burger we just ate. When the manager Jason apologized for the delay, I mentioned to him at that time that I had to order Nonna’s Meatball because I just became a Nonna and we were just coming back from meeting our granddaughter at Northwestern. Jason comp’d us this appetizer as a congratulations. What?! So very nice! Great customer service for the delay and the congrats.
We’ll definitely be back to dine at Modern Plate again. We loved it and there’s so much more on the menu to explore.

I had the sliders this time and they were perfect, the blue cheese /horse radish sauce was well balanced. The chocolate layer cake is wonderful, but defiantly for sharing . The hardest part of the menu is deciding on the sandwich . This has become a local staple for us

Stunning restaurant in the heart of Elmhurst. The food is spectacular and the cocktails were amazing. Our waitress was phenomenal! She recommended great drinks and apps and was very attentive. We had 3 kids en tow and their food came out right away. Would definitely go back! We did the hot honey flatbread and the roasted cauliflower…delish!
