Every time I go to visit family, it is mandatory I go here to eat. This is the best seafood spot I know of hands down. Everything is excellent!

The mixed vegetables are not microwaved bullshit but have lovely flavor and are roasted. This is not a fancy place but a great place to go for good seafood. Mixed drinks are really good. The cranberry old fashioned is good. I loved the chill vibe with the old school music. Half-shell oysters are fresh and delicious. My wife inhaled the fried whole belly clams, so they must have been good.
Update. I posted before I had dessert. Rookie mistake. Dessert choice is difficult. It all sounds good. I had the peanut butter pie with peanut butter ice cream. Wow.

I writing this review with the understanding that takeout seafood isn’t the most recommended option for takeout foods (hence 2 stars and not one) But I would have expected a lot more from a restaurant especially with their reputation. If you can’t do takeout correctly, please don’t offer it as an option. This was our “fancy”Christmas Eve dinner while our entire family gathered.
We were told to pick up at 2:15, we were there at 2:20, apologize for being a little late and had the food out and ready to eat at 2:30.
When we got home, opened everything up, every appetizer, soup , and entrees were extremely cold and not just cold, they were mushy and soggy. Not room temp cold, but probably was cooked around noon or came right out of a refrigerator. Everything had to be microwaved or heated up on the stove top to just bring it back to room temperature which obviously wasn’t ideal. I’m no Karen, but having a special dinner pretty much ruined from app to chowder to main entree just didn’t sit well with me.
In fairness I’ve heard great things about their food (when eaten in the restaurant) and would only use my review for take out. Just don’t do it, wait until it can get brought out fresh.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Angler Fish Market & Chowder on multiple occasions, and each experience has been nothing short of delightful. It’s become my go-to destination for seafood in the city. Their Wednesday special of $1 raw oysters is an unmissable deal, though it’s sad to note that the $1 shrimp cocktail is no longer on the menu. However, even at its regular price of $24 a dozen, their shrimp cocktail remains a compelling offering. The shrimp are exquisitely prepared—crunchy yet chewy, offering that ideal textural balance seafood aficionados yearn for.
But let’s not forget the Lobster Alfredo—a masterclass in moderation. The light, creamy cheese sauce is beautifully balanced, allowing the flavors to shine without overwhelming the palate. Served with garlic toast for dipping, this dish offers a delightful pause, allowing your taste buds to reset and prepare for the next gastronomic adventure.
The Pesto Shrimp and Scallop with linguine is another standout. The Pesto Genovese sauce serves as a light, creamy backdrop, accentuating the natural flavors of the perfectly cooked scallops and crunchy shrimp. It’s a harmonious blend of ingredients that coalesce into a truly unforgettable dining experience.
Lastly, their Fried Calamari with a spicy twist offered a sweet and spicy flavor profile that was interesting, albeit not my personal preference. Next time, I’ll opt for the regular version to better suit my taste.
In summary, Angler Fish Market & Chowder is a culinary gem, offering a diverse range of seafood dishes that are consistently well-executed and reasonably priced. It’s a place that not only meets expectations but often exceeds them, providing a dining experience that keeps me coming back for more.
Also all servers were so friendly! Will be back soon!

Dinner with family. Amber was our server and she was quick efficient and friendly. Wednesdays they offer raw oysters at $1 each. Our meals were blackened cajun cod, fried whole clams, lamb shank (pne of the specials) and oysters. Everything was delicious. Desserts were chocolate lava cake, carrot cake, tiramisu and creme brule doughnut (also one of the specials) Oh the coffee could have been stronger, overall it was a great dining experience. Will go again.

On the recommendation of friends, I went here for what I thought would be just a dozen $1 oysters and a glass of wine…. well those 1$ oysters turned into 2dozen oysters, seafood chowdah, crab cakes, swordfish w/linguine, wine & Lemon Italian Creme Cake…. the oysters where fresh, briney and sweet, the seafood chowdah was excellent (I am no stranger to chowdahs either) filled with seafood, creamy and a real good balance of flavors. The crab cakes had a real good amount of crab and not loaded with fillers. It was served with chipotle aioli, that was ok, it was just to much on the plate, less aioli next time. The swordfish, to die for… cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth! The linguine was cooked just right. The wine came in 2 sizes, 6oz & 9oz, go for the larger size, more wine for your $. The dessert, very good! It is a good stocked small bar area with a TV overhead. The space is interesting, long as opposed to wide. Beth, our server, was great! Friendly, engaging, helpful with the menu and I notice her great attitude toward everyone in the restaurant. This restaurant has a kids menu and is handicap accessible. There was a wait, a busy Wednesday! You can see the chefs cooking as it is an open concept. This is also a fish market, although I did not buy any for take away, it all looked quite fresh. I believe they also have GF items on Sundays. Every Wednesday & Sundays.. $1 oysters…. Yes Please! Highly recommend.

So happy we stumbled upon this gem! They sell fresh seafood at a counter, and have a few tables and a small bar, all centered around the very small open kitchen where everything is cooked fresh to order. We had fresh oysters, $1 on this Wednesday special, a ‘fisher man’s special’ consisting of huge scallops, shrimp, clams and fries, and another special of the day which was a 1.5lb fresh lobster, $31. The two of us who got lobster had Cole slaw and vegetables, both were fresh and homemade, and you could tell and taste the difference. Deserts are HUGE, also homemade.
I give a 4star on atmosphere only because it is a little loud with the kitchen and the small quarters.
If you are around the area and can stop in, this is a don’t miss in Massachusetts!
