I’ve debated writing this because I genuinely loved this restaurant the first time I visited.
In October 2024, I had what I still consider one of the most incredible antipasti dishes I’ve ever eaten I believe it was called the Caprese Burrata. I bragged about that dish for years. I literally drive from Scarborough to Vaughan just for it. It was that memorable.
So you can imagine my excitement returning recently… only to find out it had been replaced with something completely different and (in my opinion) not even close in comparison to its original deliciousness. I understand menus evolve, but when a restaurant becomes known for something truly special, it’s disappointing to see it removed entirely. Some dishes are signature for a reason.
Our waiter initially tried to help when I mentioned my disappointment and asked how he could make it better ( which I did appreciate ) but unfortunately there wasn’t really anything that could replace what I had come for. After that, the service felt a bit scattered. We asked for split bills by couples and received individual splits instead. We had to ask for bread, and some antipasti came out in partial orders. At times we felt a little rushed, almost like an inconvenience, which added to the disappointment.
That said, the rest of the food was still good. Osteria Gente clearly has talent in the kitchen, and my first experience there was outstanding which is why this visit felt like such a contrast.
I truly hope they consider bringing back that original Caprese Burrata (or something close to it). I’d happily make the drive again in a heartbeat.

We chose this restaurant because we were really craving Italian food. While the ambiance was quite nice and the food itself was good, the service really fell short. Despite visiting on a quiet Monday lunch with only a handful of tables, it felt like we were completely forgotten once our order was placed. Our experience was marred by an incorrect order and the fact that we had to ask to be served bread.

One of the most elegant, beautiful restaurants that I have the pleasure to attend to, walking in the atmosphere, felt like home felt welcoming, inviting. It was like going to Nonna’s for lunch or dinner the staff was extremely welcoming especially at the serve in Hannah.
They have an amazing menu and it was hard to choose from because there was so many wonderful options I forget the name of the dish I got because it’s not something typical which I’ve usually eaten in past but it was a saffron pasta with chorizo after some other things.
I was hungry, so I just decided to pop in in the place, but I had a very rough day but after eating the meal, it was so salve delicious It lifted up my spirits. It felt like coming home from work after a long day and seen my dogs. How one little thing like a proper meal can change your entire outlook for the day.
The bread was fresh crispy It had the umami flavor. The hot oil was not overwhelming. I had just the right amount of heat.
10 out of 10 not a single bad thing I can mention about this place. The only upsetting thing I wasn’t able to try their wine menu. But this place will definitely be on my top 10 places to return to and try out the rest of the menu. The atmosphere felt like I don’t know travelling abroad. Going to a different country, but still being in your local area.
Absolutely so rare to find places like this, which make you feel at home and honestly, that was the best part welcoming, inviting peaceful, tranquil
Such a hidden gem more rare than a diamond or emerald and what I appreciate about this place.
Is the location it’s away from the busy hustle and bustle of Western and Highway seven area where it has been taken over by big conglomerates restaurants.
If you were looking for the most authentic Italian food, a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere where you can dine with your significant other in a wonderfully lit atmosphere come to this location bring your appetite because honestly, you will not leave the disappointed the only thing I can say you’ll be disappointed in is that you didn’t have more room in your stomach to order everything on the menu

I had dinner at Osteria Gente with my boyfriend and i had an amazing experience.
Italian authentic food. The staff and waiters are amazing people, I felt welcomed and would definitely recommend to anyone.
The food was great and the drinks were perfect!
Risotto with shrimps tartare and lemon jelly was outstanding.
Next time I’ll be in Toronto i would definitely come again! Thank you!!

While the exterior of the building appears a bit dated, the interior has been thoughtfully renovated and feels modern and well-maintained.

We celebrated my daughter’s bridal shower here yesterday and if you are hosting an event do not hesitate to host it at Osteria Gente. Lori, Antonio and the entire Gente team will ensure it is a high claibre, high vibration memorable event. Everything was perfect, the food, the mood, the atmosphere, the service, everything… they took care of every detail and we couldn’t have been happier. Me and my fiancé really enjoyed our time at Osteria Gente. The food was amazing and our server Abagail was very hospitable and helpful, offering excellent food and beverage recommendations. She was very polite and personable, ultimately enhancing our experience as well as the other tables around us from what we could clearly see. I cannot recommend this fine dining establishment enough and will definitely be returning!

We were in the area and wanted to try a new place that is not a food chain as I am done with those. Osteria Gente was a lovely surprise for us. We were welcomes despite no reservations as we were kinda early for dinner time. It got so busy so soon!
The food is amazing, fresh and just like I wish I could cool at home.
After paying, we realized that the host forgot to charged for desserts, so we asked him to bring another check. Well, the gracious host was amused and didn’t charge us for those…who does that nowadays! The fresh Tiramisu is one the best I have ever had.
I guess when you are treated with such warmth, you feel the connection. We will certainly go back very soon!
Update: we revised yesterday for a birthday. To our surprise, we got a dessert Platter for the family and last drink of sour whisky, offered to all but only birthday boy accepted graciously. It really felt like a part of Osteria family as they make you feel at home. ❤️

We went on a Saturday night. The food was very good. The prices were outrageous. A 6oz glass of wine was $39.00. We could believe the balance of out bill at the end of the meal. This restaurant will not be seeing ever again. Wine prices were not on the list. We felt so taken for granted
