THE best authentic Mexican around. Ignore the overall look of the place, that wont matter, the food will speak for itself. My family and I have ate here over a dozen times with not a single bad experience. It really feels like the staff recognizes us as regulars and that is an amazing bonus, but the food is the reason we can’t stop coming back, it’s just amazing. A must try.

Awesome food & a big menu. I’ve ate here twice in the last week. Had the same waitress who is very nice and gets orders correct. I had the Chulpa Maya I think is what its called and it was very good. I highly recommend this CLEAN & FAMILY FRIENDLY atmosphere

Ate there for the first time ever, 8/31/2024 on a Saturday at 5 on a whim, it was absolutely phenomenal. I’m so glad and feel blessed that we wanted to go in. I had the number 25, my husband had the number 9. The Chile relleno is my favorite and it is THE BEST ONE I’ve ever had. Absolute best. The service was quick and kind, and the environment is great, and the FOOD. I could go on and on. Amazing. 10 stars. Don’t hesitate, just go. Give these fantastic people your business. They have a good kids menu too, will bring our kids next time. Thank you El 5 de Mayo for a wonderful meal.

I’m from San Diego and being that close to Mexico, I’ve had excellent Mexican food for over 50 years. I miss it terribly. I’ve tried other Mexican restaurants here, but nothing compares to this place. They nailed it!!
I finally found food worthy of the name!
Try the Al pastor street tacos. Do the double corn tortillas with onions & cilantro. Ask for the 2 hot sauces. They have heat so be careful!
The rice and beans are exactly how they make them in Mexico and delicious.
I can’t wait to try everything!!!

Don’t sleep on this spot—especially if you’re local. The quesabirria tacos are a must, and I highly recommend grabbing extra green salsa—it’s way better than the red. Chips were super fresh, honestly better than what I’ve had at other Mexican places around here, and the Mexican rice really stood out too. Everything in my takeout order was packed perfectly. I’ve been missing the flavors of Texas, and this place brought some of that vibe back in the best way.

Doing a happy dance to have a Mexican restaurant on our side of town! Food was great and the portions were large! More seating than I thought there would be. Service was very good. Waitress was attentive and checked on us often! We will definitely return again!
