La Lune Fremantle – Romantic French Dining in the Heart of Freo

La Lune is one of the best French restaurants in Fremantle, especially if you’re looking for a romantic date-night restaurant in Freo. Located on a quiet street, it’s easy to spot thanks to the charming outdoor seating and beautifully styled tables.

From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff were genuinely kind, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. We were looked after by a French waiter whose wine recommendation was excellent, adding authenticity and elevating the overall dining experience.

The ambience is warm, intimate, and relaxed, with a stylish crowd and a lovely street-side setting. Sitting outside with a glass of wine, watching people pass by and admiring Fremantle’s heritage homes, created a truly European feel.

We shared steak and olives, and the food quality was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavour, showing great consistency and attention to detail. For the quality of food, service, and atmosphere, La Lune offers excellent value.

If you’re searching for great service, romantic ambience, quality wine, and consistent French food in Fremantle, La Lune is a must-visit.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended.

First time at La Lune and wasn’t expecting much but the service, ambience and food didn’t disappoint us. Served by Julie and Omar both were so friendly and professional, easy to talk to and helpful making us feel so welcome and comfortable. The Oysters were freshed and flavourful so are the scallops and octopus. We loved our seafoods . We both had the steaks and were cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chefs in the kitchen.. I had the milk stout which is so yummy and my partner had a beer he enjoyed it. Overall experience was excellent and we will definitely be coming back for more. Thank you La Lune.

We had our engagement lunch at La Lune in the private dining room yesterday and it was truly exceptional. Coco, Julia and Cedric were absolutely fantastic!!

The service, the food, the professionalism everything was outstanding from start to finish.

The food was stunning the table area was beautiful and we added some more flowers which made it even more special. The entire team was so kind, attentive and welcoming and we honestly couldn’t have asked for better service.

We can’t express enough how wonderful our engagement lunch was. We loved it!!!

If anyone is considering hosting an event here, I highly recommend it. It was an absolutely beautiful experience and we’re so glad we chose La Lune 10/10!!!

Food was delicious although the lamb was tough and overcooked since there was no pink remaining, was chewy and difficult to cut. Duck, octopus and gratin were especially amazing and very flavourful.

Can appreciate that not all restaurant advertise still water as a charge but in good faith, the waiter should offer “sparkling, still or tap” instead of just “sparkling or still”. Not a big problem, but I think customers should know the bottle charge is $5 or $2 pp (whatever the calculation is that came to $10 for a group of 5 to drink water).

Staff were nice. Waiter was professional. Front of house manager was a bit aloof and just grabbed the menus after I told him we had a reservation and walked into the dining area without even gesturing or asking us to follow. When we paid our bill he was just singing aloud and didn’t even ask us how our experience was. Some decorum and personal attention would make the experience better.

All in all, a good time but some things that should’ve been ironed out by now considering La Lune has been around for years.

We visited on a lazy mid week afternoon for lunch. Bursting with old world glamour and heritage charm, La Lune lives up to its reputation. We just had to visit for ourselves after hearing all the reviews and we weren’t disappointed! Service was warm and attentive and the overall vibe was unpretentious and a focus on having a good time. Our meals were beautifully plated and everything was delicious. Highly recommend a visit here. It deserves 5 stars! We will be back.

Honestly really enjoyed our dining experience here. We had came in quite late, around 8:00pm and I’ve never had a warmer welcoming showing up late to a restaurant. The gentleman that took care of us was very french and and very welcoming. Cheers to him, didn’t get his name. Food wise, everything was delicious. We had steak and frites, steak tartare which was divineee!! Gratin Dauphinois, incredible. Cheesy warm incredibly delicious. I will definitely be back and dreaming of steak and frites until I am.

We had the best time last night

The food was delicious, the service impeccable, the room and table setting exactly what I wanted for my party. Your team were so warm and welcoming, which allowed me to relax and really enjoy myself.

Compliments to your pastry chef – the chocolate cake was outstanding!

Thanks again to you Julie, Coco, Nathan and everyone at La Lune.

It took us just over an hour to drive down south and it was totally worth it.
We ordered the Terrine Du Chef and Spring Ceviche for our entrees. I wanted to order the Wagin Duck but unfortunately it was not available. So for our mains we ordered the Spring Lamb Fillet and Fish of The Day.
For dessert we ordered the Creme Brulee.
Evey dish danced on my taste buds.
The service was excellent, the decor beautiful, and the food delicious.
I highly recommend visiting this French Bistro.

If you value exceptional service, exquisite food, cooked with love and top quality ingredients and an eclectic wine list, La Lune is for you.
From the greeting on arrival (no booking) to the sample wine tastings and the suggested pairings with individual dishes, everything was fabulous.
The bouillabaisse was outstanding and Tarte Tartine perfect.
It’s not cheap, but good things never are. Is this the best french restaurant in Perth?
Probably…

As a wheelchair user here’s a quick heads up on what wheelchair accessible means in 2026. In the past it may have been okay to provide wheelchair access through the back service entry complete with dirty strip plastic curtain while negotiating empty pallets etc .. but nowadays we expect to enter restaurants with the same ease, comfort, safety and dignity as able bodied customers. That is through the front door. You need to work out how to add a ramp to that front step or remove the front step… As a wheelchair user I won’t be coming in the back way again. Service was great, atmosphere very French and my table enjoyed their meals. My steak bavette was a bit ordinary, as other reviews have mentioned. Some of it was rare, some well done and chewy… And over priced.
