The owner, Nadège, is lively, friendly, chatty and funny. She welcomes each party with a greeting and a smile. The servers are also cheerful, friendly and attentive. The place is casual, painted in tropical colors with an eclectic collection of decorations (even a framed cartoon slamming ketchup). But most importantly, the food is spectacular.
In two visits, we tried seven dishes and seven desserts. Fish, duck, chicken. Each was unique, very flavorful and beautifully presented. Desserts were imaginative and satisfying. A complimentary rum digestif capped off the experience. And the prices were very reasonable compared to other stuffy, full-of-themselves restaurants we have tried.
Tropicana in Marigot is a true gem and one of the best dining experiences we had on Saint Martin. The food was absolutely delicious — beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, true French cuisine at its best.
The service was just as impressive: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel relaxed and well taken care of from start to finish, without ever being intrusive.
The atmosphere is elegant yet comfortable, perfect for a special evening or simply enjoying an exceptional meal. Tropicana truly captures the charm and culinary excellence of the French side of the island.
Highly recommended — we will definitely be back!
Restaurants come and go on St. Martin, but Le Tropicana has been a staple for nearly 3 decades. Fortunately, we discovered it relatively early and so our family has been going to Le Tropicana for about 25 years. The management and food quality have likewise remained stable and reliable. There are no bad choices to be made when selecting from among the authentic French dishes—from the French onion soup, the lush salads, or their carefully selected specials. The fish is always fresh from the market and expertly prepared. Every aspect of the service is exceptional—friendly, professional, helpful, warm, and quite funny (in part the benefit of being regulars). We are never rushed. St. Martin is the food capital of the Caribbean for a reason and Le Tropicana is one of those reasons. If you travel here, do not miss it. You are in for a treat.
There is a lovely view of the water. They have AC that blows from inside and it looks like they can close the doors if it’s too hot. The night we went the weather was quite nice and they had the doors open. They had bug spray available.
