Zhima is a Chinese Brasserie and Bar and I can thoroughly recommend it. Best Shanghai beef dish and may I say the best Chinese meal I’ve ever ate.
It was a shame that the old signature cocktail Cigar Vending Machine was no longer, however the IQ with Tin Cup Whiskey, Plum Sake, lemon and fig was a great replacement.
Service was outstanding and if you sign up free to being a member, you get 40% off food in January
The food was very very nice everyone had something different and all really enjoyed it.
The waitress was extremely knowledgeable on all food on the menu which is rare in restaurants nowadays, she was very helpful and a credit to you I wish I had her name.
Thank you for a great night
Portion size was also good. I tried Hakka noodles.
Good selection of drinks on the menu. Didn’t disappoint.
Staff is courteous and professional.
Overall branding and ambience I would rate higher, really calm and soothing.
If you’re looking for the intimate seats, ask for a booth.
Beijing curry beef? Probably no such thing. Similar to a Japanese beef curry (but not as good).
I don’t know what they are thinking with their egg fried rice. Uncle Roger would trash it more than Gordon Ramsay’s.
This spicy scallops were great.
The drinks were tasty and creative, if spendy.
If anything we found the place a bit dark which made for a good atmosphere but just a little more light would have been nice to see the lovely delights on our plates.
It’s a wee bit expensive for what is essentially fine dining takeaway food as others have said but we loved the experience anyway.
Recommend for date night or with friends!
We only ordered small dishes as the rice or noodles dishes are too filling for the two of us.
The braised pork and prawn toast are perfect. The fat in the pork is cooked in the classic Chinese style, which is not too greasy or heavy. The toast was crunchy.
All dishes are presented in an eye catching manner.
The waitress is so kind to move us to a bigger table after we have expressed our feelings about the crowdedness of the table.
However the sous chef seems to have gone for a break after the first two dishes.
The remaining dishes, though as appealing as the previous ones, seemed to have prepared by an apprentice. All taste similar. Every savoury dish has been turned into dessert. It’s the sweet duck sauce dish after dish. The scallops would have been at their prime a few days earlier. The soup feels like consuming sauce, so it was barely touched.
The control in the right amount of sugar is vital. Also, need to pay attention to the texture of the food. It makes all the difference between good and mediocre.
