La Tia Taqueria & Cantina was opened in July by Leo Vazquez and Luis Nava, a pair of 30-somethings who share Mexican heritage and earlier careers in local restaurants. Vazquez’s family is from Mexico City; Nava is from Colima on the Pacific coast. They wanted to bring a more traditional picture of Mexican cooking to the table, drawn with a contemporary hand.

Fantastic food! From the free chips and salsa to the enchilada sauce. Fresh . Generous. Priced right. Great cute bar and seating area. Lots of light. lunch specials are a great deal and although I don’t usually have dessert the tres leche was fantastic! Delicious sauce.

Great Mexican food. Good salsa, great sauces, good customer service. Three different meals and they were all delicious. The tacos , enchiladas and quesadillas are delicious they even come with guacamole. And a side of rice and beans. And you have to try the tres leche dessert.

Cute little restaurant with excellent food and service! We ordered the birria tacos and the steak quesadilla, plus an order of queso to start. My 5-year-old son enjoyed his chicken tenders and potato wedges. The queso is my favorite queso! The food is delicious and fairly priced, and the portion sizes are nice. I enjoy the small size of the restaurant and how it’s not overly crowded. We went at 6pm on a Saturday, and there were only a few other parties there. It’s nice and bright too – I hate restaurants that are so dimly lit, especially when you have a child with you! Our waitress Brittany was very attentive, pleasant, and sweet. Great experience for family fun night!

Delightful find! The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, even making a special drink for our kiddo on her request (mint lemonade). The sauces particularly impressed and they clearly make them from scratch including the adobo on the Mahi Mahi that I ordered (pictured, delicious) and the mole that my wife ordered (also delicious). The margaritas involve real lime and house made syrups. Several kid friendly options on the menu and plenty of families dining. Highly recommended!

This spot is legit. The queso is the real deal — no Velveeta, just rich, creamy, actual cheese. Homemade chips and tortillas (you can taste the difference).
Margaritas are — add a Grand Marnier floater to the frozen and thank me later.
Birria tacos were juicy and crisped perfectly, al pastor was straight-up authentic, and the tempura fish tacos were ridiculously good. Salsa is top notch.
And do NOT skip the tres leches — absolute must-order.
Already planning my next visit.

Quaint atmosphere and authentic prepared dishes. Same owner as Aquasanta, but menus are different. There are lunch combo plates that are a good value.

Google wouldn’t let me review twice so I deleted my first one. This is our 3rd time coming here and we got surprised with a birria pizza option! (It’s not on the menu yet, but you can ask for it!) IT WAS OFF THE HOOK!!!! Aly was an amazing server!
Original review: We got a lovely thorough introduction to what this restaurant had to offer as soon as we sat down. We got the fresh made strawberry margs, the fresh made steak tacos and fajitas. We both sat in awe as we didn’t know what to expect. It was delicious and hot. The service was incredible. The atmosphere was fun. It was an all around comfortable experience. Included with personalized to go box drawings! Will be going back! Thank you!

For all the Mexican food lovers! This is a complete different experience! They brought a whole new type of Mexican food that you can’t find often, they play with different flavors and authentic dishes that you don’t find everyday, and yes, they also have all the typical Mexican food too. To start their chips and salsa was different from your everyday salsa, they serve a a black octopus ink ceviche! So original and different! I highly recommend you try this place!
