Authentic California Mexican Grill is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu—but my personal favorite is the enchiladas. They taste truly authentic and never disappoint.
The chips and salsa are already amazing, but when you add the avocado dip from the salsa bar, they become next-level delicious.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the atmosphere. The owner treats every guest like family, as if you’re walking into his home. It’s warm, welcoming, and genuine.
I travel quite a bit—California, Nogales, South Texas—and I can confidently say this is my favorite spot for Mexican food. The prices are great, the portions are generous, and it’s usually calm and relaxing without the loud hustle and bustle.
For the quality of food they serve, this place should be packed all the time. Maybe it’s a hidden gem—but I know one thing for sure: every time I come home, this restaurant is on my must-visit list.

What a surprise to run across this little place off 93 north in Kingsport! So good!!! The owner is super friendly and serves you. The food is very flavorful compared to the “greasy spoon” Mexican (so called) in the area. I gotta taco salad and was very surprised how great the meat tasted!! So good! Cheese was fresh and yummy. My husband had the other dish (forgot name) but it was a shredded beef burrito and he was in love with the flavor. Do not let the outside fool you. Inside was CLEAN and welcoming. We will be back for sure.

This is a diamond in the rough. I honestly was not expecting to like it as much as I do. I will definitely go back to try more dishes in the future. They bring out a bean dip with the chips initially but also have a self-service salsa bar with several salsa choices to pick from. The service was also very friendly and inviting.

Found this place online. Carlos greeted and waited on us. He was the only one aside from the cook I saw there. He was super positive and on top of it! Very kind and although he was the only one he did an amazing job. The food was great as well

I must say that this is the BEST place for Mexican food in the area!!! I had the carne asada tacos & hubby had chorizo tacos. They were both awesome!!! It’s tough to find good mex food in Kingsport, but this one is a winner!
