⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

El Borrego de Oro is, without exaggeration, the best Mexican food I’ve had in decades.

From the moment you walk in, there’s a feeling that this place isn’t trying to impress you—it simply is what great Mexican food is supposed to be. The flavors are deep, honest, and soulful. Nothing tastes rushed, watered down, or adjusted for trends. Every bite feels rooted in tradition and care.

The meat is tender and richly seasoned, the sauces are layered and comforting, and the balance of spices is spot on—bold without overpowering. You can taste the time, patience, and respect for the craft in every dish. This is the kind of food that reminds you why you fell in love with Mexican cuisine in the first place.

What really stood out to me was how wholesome the entire experience felt. The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious, the service genuinely kind, and the food feels like it’s made with pride rather than production. It’s the kind of place you want to bring family, friends, and anyone who appreciates food made from the heart.

El Borrego de Oro isn’t just a great restaurant, it’s a reminder of what authentic means to me. If you’re searching for real, soulful Mexican food that stays with you long after the meal ends, this place is an absolute must.

I’ll be thinking about this meal for a long time—and I’ll definitely be back. ✨

Less than half a block from the Roswell Street Baptist Church is the food gem. I knew it would be good when I entered and there were few empty seats/tables. Another sign that the food would be special is that I was the only Southern Curmudgeon in the place. The reviews rave about the tacos, but I saw that on Sunday they make Menudo. I had to get a big bowl. I had always eaten Menudo Rojo, they make Menudo de Cordero. It was fantastic. And so were the blue corn tortillas.
Give this place a try. I think you’ll like it. I will go back!

Such good and authentic Mexican food. The flavors explode in your mouth and are simply phenomenal. You can tell a lot about a place from the initial nacho chips and salsa dip. The chips came out hot and freshly fried. They brought an assortment of salsas as well as chopped cilantro, chopped onion, and limes. Right off the bat I knew this was going to be legit. I ordered one plate of enchiladas which was big enough to share for 2. The rice and beans are so good with authentic red Mexican rice. You know there’s a little abuelita doing all the cooking in the background. I also had ordered a side of Mexican coffee which was fragrant with cinnamon but I ended up sending it back because it was too bitter. Other than the coffee, everything else I had off the menu was really good. This is also a family-owned restaurant that I highly recommend to everyone.

Just enjoyed an amazing dinner. We are from Fayette county and we’re in the city here for something and decided to take a chance. And so glad we did. Very authentic and not generic Mexican food. So no Queso dip here. You get the real homemade authentic meal. Definitely give them a try!

Amazing little spot not far from downtown Marietta. Blue corn tortillas and great fresh salsas brought to the table along with other taco toppings to create some of the best authentic tacos I’ve had.

I came after a friend recommended the food. I have to say, I am impressed! Great service, really well priced, and the food is delicious! The birria is truly authentic. I love the atmosphere as well. The jarritos for the drinks and the plates are beautiful and give the place the aesthetic that you want when eating Mexican food. Will definitely return soon!

Excellent food. Got one of each taco and they were all great. But of course the lamb meat is so much better than the rest. Very chill place.
