Another Closure At ‘Revolving Door’ Restaurant Location | Geneva …
Reviews
The beer was lukewarm, the prices were too high, and the ambiance was nothing special. Lots of restaurants have been in and out of this location. I will be surprised if this one lasts any longer than the others. I will not be returning quickly and I suggest going somewhere else with better food, ambiance and more reasonable prices.
The one redeeming factor was the dessert which was unique and very tasty. Some sort of cornmeal creme brûlée. At any rate, it’s not worth suffering through a mediocre meal just for dessert. Do yourself a favor and go next door to one of the many other options in Geneva.
Canadian Poutin – an overload on an appetizer. The fries were of mediocre quality
The truffle mac&cheese were good, nice choice of cheese, but it tasted more of flour than truffle.
Shrimp wrap was fresh, simply shrimp on quinoa served with a fresh salad which was outstanding.
The BLT with peach compote was a wonderful explosion of different flavors. I recommend it.
But the fries …. no, unacceptable, dark, limp, luke warm, way too much salt and cheese. Hijacked the taste buds.
Wonderful wine list, even by the glass.
It was a bit unfortunate that the last plate was cleared from our table with the words “would you like dessert or the check.” The restaurant was empty, it was about 90 minutes until closing. We still had wine to drink. Not to mention, they started cleaning up for the night around us while we were still eating. Grrrr.
Did not like to get rushed after a 3 course meal, which they call their specialty. Nobody replied when we left with a “Good Night.”
Overall: It’s ok, It can get very pricey quickly. They have some lower priced items on the menu. Worth checking out. I might go back to try another combi without their Poutine and NO fries.
It took quite a while to get anyones attention just to get water and drinks.
Finally the manager found us and the evening ended fine, but the wait at the beginning was inexcusable.
I can’t believe I endured such a painful and disappointing experience. My family and I recently went here for Mother’s Day two days ago. It was a very nice looking restaurant, but unfortunately that is the only positive thing I can say about this place.
I called a few days in advance to make reservations for 1 PM but the representative I spoke with kept switching the availability until he finally confirmed 1 PM. That should have already been a sign of what was to come. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were about 20 people waiting in the front. The host was all over the place, setting the tables up, making drinks at the bar, going to the kitchen…pretty much everything except what he was supposed to be doing. The rest of the staff moved at sloth-like speeds, no sense of urgency at all.
After waiting 45 minutes we were finally seated. There were 9 of us with only 7 glasses of water and eating utensils. Even after asking for extra glasses and utensils we still did not get any. We finally put our orders in after waiting 15 minutes for our server to come. At this point it is already 2 PM. Also, the white wine sangrias that were ordered had that smallest piece of fruits I have ever seen. How can they be so cheap with the ingredients and charge $12 for this drink?
We see the family on our left packing up and leaving. They tell us, we can’t do it anymore we are leaving. Good luck to you guys. I figured…we’re already here, might as well wait it out.
It is now 2:30 PM and our server comes by and informs our table and the adjacent table that they ran out of the Corned Beef Reuben, (which was ordered by half the table) and if we would like to order another item on the menu. I told the server we are leaving, and to no surprise he walked away without a care in the world.
I couldn’t believe what was happening, the adjacent table said they were going to wait it out, but they too left 5 minutes later. We saw them again outside while we were walking back to our cars after finding out all other restaurants were closed.
I have never walked out of a restaurant before; I couldn’t believe the level of service we receive. I was amazed at the fact that no one on their staff cared about their customers. It felt like a conspiracy, I was speechless.
I know some of you reading this may think I am exaggerating a bit, but I haven’t even mentioned half of the other things I saw. You really had to be there to see the full scope of ridiculousness. I don’t usually write reviews, but this was such a horrible experience I thought I’d share it with you guys so I can spare you the pain and agony.
Luckily Costco was still open so we called in a few hotdogs and pizza for pick up. Happy Mother’s Day.
