Sweet Amalia Market and Kitchen is a rustic, family friendly, and comfortable café. The day that I was there was ideal for eating outside on one of several picnic style bench/tables. Some café style tables & chairs were available. Amalia’s farm raised oysters were outstanding – sweet, tender, with a hint of brine. Her oysters can rival any Michelin star resturant. I paired the oysters with the fennel & apple arugula green salad topped with fried oysters . So fresh & yummy. Note, At Sweet Amalia you place your order at the counter, menu posted on board, and then you find your own seating. It’s very layed-back. Other items are available for sale inside the store.

Finally made it down to Sweet Amalia’s after seeing it on IG all summer and it didn’t disappoint! Sweet Amalia ioysters were the sweetest I’ve had ever! Followed it with the falafel salad, spicy coleslaw and clam chowder! Outside table was great but a little chilly as their season is wiring down. Will definitely be back during the summer! Highly highly recommend!

Great food and friendly service. We had the Sweet Amalia oysters, gazpacho with shrimp and avocado, fried olives with blue cheese sauce, and delicious French fries with dipping sauce. They have local wine, hard cider, and soft drinks. No beer. Prices were reasonable and food came out quickly. Seating is outside but clean and shaded by table umbrellas. You should stop off driving by.

Sweet Amalia is an absolute gem in South Jersey. Some of the best oysters you’ll ever have. Honestly they’re so good you don’t even need to dress them. Definitely recommend the potato salad, it’s a unique twist and they absolutely nailed it to perfection. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with a warm welcome, and great hospitality. The outdoor seating area is very relaxing just a great setup overall.

The food is good. Not quite the Farm Market vibe of food. It’s a little on the pricy side for a farm stand. But it is good. We had the Fried Oyster Roll, Chicken Cutlet Special, and the Shrimp Salad Sandwich. The chicken cutlet was fantastic. The balance of the flavors and combination was awesome. The other two were good but not the same experience as the chicken. We also had the Fried Zucchini & the Crispy Potato Salad. The zucchini was a bit on the salty side for me, (I don’t normally use a lot of salt) and I couldn’t figure out where the sauce really came in. It just wasn’t paired to my taste. The zucchini were perfectly fried. The potatoes were another different combination for me. They were a variety of sizes of potatoes that were fried until golden brown over a bed of arugula. I guess that’s where the salad part comes in. The potatoes were delicious along with a nice sauce to dip them in.
We will visit again, especially if that chicken sandwich is on the menu again. This is a takeout dining experience. You order inside and they deliver it to your table outside. The staff are very nice and friendly. I’m sure they would bring you more things if you needed them, but it’s not specifically wait service. There is a counter outside with plastic ware, napkins, & a water cooler. There is also a bathroom trailer behind the eating area that has running water and air conditioning. I’d assume heat as well. The eating area consists of picnic tables with umbrellas, so it is affected by bad weather.

The food is good and definitely fresh, but the service is pretty chaotic and the staff seemed very overwhelmed on this particular Saturday afternoon. You order at the inside counter, get a number, grab a table(outside only) and a food runner brings you your food when it’s ready. If they’re busy, be prepared to awkwardly stand around with your number waiting for someone else to finish up to snag their table. There’s tables without an umbrella that no one wants to take.

Their oysters are good, they were plump and had a nice texture. I wasn’t a fan of their mignonette though, it was too vinegar heavy and the utensils you get barely allow you to scoop the shallots in the bottom of the cup. Their oysters aren’t briny, so the mignonette just made the whole oyster taste like vinegar. I thought they were better with just hot sauce/lemon squeeze. The tuna crudo was great, it was our favorite thing. The clam chowder was pretty good also. The crispy potato salad wasn’t what I was anticipating but I actually really liked it. It was essentially a whole fried potato cut up on top of a Caesar-like salad, not your typical mayo based potato salad. They should probably specify this on the chalkboard menu though as it can probably confuse people. It’s BYOB which is nice.

The self-serve station was out of condiments and I asked a staff member if they could bring some more hot sauces out and she just went missing, got sidetracked and never came back. I had to grab a hot sauce from their market and restock their station myself. One of our items came out super late and the food runner seemed confused. It was a Saturday afternoon. The set up isn’t the greatest which is disappointing because when you order, the tablet makes you feel inclined to give a 15% minimum tip but you do everything yourself(including busing your own table). Oysters are on the expensive side at $21 a half dozen. Picnic tables are shared with other diners also, which is fine. Overall I do think the food is good, fresh, and worth a try. I’d like to come back in the fall when it’s more enjoyable to dine outside, probably less busy, and try some of their sandwiches. It’s nice to see they are doing well and are busy but their business model is starting to suffer due to their success, might be time to expand to a dining room.

Fantastic lunch spot. Oysters are obviously great but the sleeper hits are the chowder and sandwiches! This is the fried clam Sammy. Five stars across the board.

Went to Sweet Amalia for our anniversary lunch today and sampled several items off the board!

Started with 6 of their Sweet Amalia oysters and their Sweet Corn Bruschetta! They both were delicious.

Next we ordered 6 of their Sloop Point, 6 of their Laughing Gulls along with an order of their Tuna Crudo – they all didn’t disappoint!

Then we rounded out our visit with their Eggplant sandwich and their Oyster Po Boy that featured fried Sweet Amalia’s that we shared. Both were served on a crusty, sesame seeded Po Boy roll.

Everything was fantastic which was complicated but their superb, friendly service – made you feel like family! The atmosphere was warm and the seating on the patio was enhanced with today’s perfect weather!

They were continually busy while we were there filling all of their tables. In addition to the awesome fare, they also offered local produce, hot sauces, jams, jellys and other cooking tools and cook books!

I would give them 5 Stars in all categories. I however felt that the shucked oysters were rather small and with that overpriced at $ 22.00 for a half dozen. All of the other menu items that we enjoyed were a little pricey but definitely not unreasonable given the outstanding quality!

I would definitely rate them as a great place to try – well worth the trip down! Give them a try!

Oysters Denise and Sweet Amalia were absolutely amazing and super fresh.
We ordered the fried-oyster roll, the signature chicken patty, and the shrimp salad sandwich. The chicken patty was fantastic. The outdoor seating area was really nice. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back!
