Easily one of the best Hyderabadi food experiences I’ve had in the U.S.!

I was in Agoura Hills, CA for a 4-day work trip and came across Nizams while searching for Hyderabadi food. Being a true Hyderabadi myself, this instantly became my first choice — and I’m so glad I trusted my instinct!

From the moment I walked in, the experience was outstanding. I was ordering through the kiosk when the owner, Arun, personally stepped up to guide me with recommendations — and that’s when I learned that he is not only the owner, but also the chef behind every dish. You can immediately tell he cooks with passion, not just for business. The food is authentic, flavorful, and reminds you of home the moment you take the first bite.

Across my stay, I tried a LOT —
• Mutton Dum Biryani (my top pick!)
• Chicken Dum Biryani
• Chicken Alpham
• Murg Malai Kabab
• Dal Tadka
• Mango Bliss
• Indian Chai

Every single dish was rich, beautifully spiced, and tasted like real Hyderabad — not the commercialized version you often find elsewhere. So good, in fact, that I went all four days in a row (a first for me anywhere!). Arun and the kitchen staff are warm, welcoming people who clearly care about every plate they serve.

I’m already missing their food back in NC — though I’m happy I carried one Mutton Dum Biryani back with me to relive the magic one more time.

If you love Hyderabadi food, or just good food in general — go here. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

The food is absolutely delicious. It’s the best Indian I’ve ever had! The Chicken 65 Biryani was out of this world. The chicken tikka masala was also delicious. We’re definitely coming back. We forgot to take a picture before we dug in, but it came out fresh and piping hot. 10 out of 10!

Wow, the most authentic Hyderabadi taste that I’ve ever had in the US. Nizami has cracked the code on those complex aromatic flavors that is so rare. The owner Arun is passionate about the quality and taste of the food and he’s super friendly with the restaurant guests. I’m hoping they’d open more locations so more people can experience authentic Hyderabadi flavors from Nizami.

Well, here’s the honest review. The food is average, the quality of the meat is not up to par making the biryani overall not great. I expected proper dum biryani with tender mutton, but instead I got basic spicy rice with tough meat. Utensils are plastic and it’s impossible to cut through the meat. The samosa chat lacks flavor and chick peas taste canned. It also took 34 minutes to get these 2 orders to the table. Also, overpriced.

Edit (11/21): I’m not sure what you mean by “Ask for the local/American tough meat biryani” ?! That’s racist. The meat (and rice, and spice) quality was bad by all standards. This review is intended for my fellow google-guided diners, from all backgrounds.

Have tried this place multiple times. The first dine-in experience was great — the food was fresh, the meat was tender and juicy, and the texture was excellent. I even shared this positive feedback with Chef Arun at that time.

But this time, I ordered chicken biryani to go, they just reheated old biryani and packed. Even the chicken didn’t seem fresh and had blood stains on it. The quality is definitely not consistent, and I’m very disappointed this time.

Follow-up on your response: I had a great experience on my first visit, which is why I returned. This time, however, it seems my concern about consistency was overlooked, with the focus instead on celebrating 5-star reviews.

The point of my review is simple: maintaining consistent quality matters. Not every experience will earn a 5-star rating, especially if it falls short like the one I described. I hope future responses focus on addressing real issues, not just highlighting the happy customers

Amazing authentic experience felt like I was not in US . The quality of the spices and cooking over the tandoori made our green chicken kabobs pop with flavor and had crispy yet tender bite. Along side and over top was the curd rice which was creamy and nutty with the perfect level of spice. I feel it complimented well. Last but definitely not least the mango lassi was absolutely the best I’ve ever had. You could taste the saffron ! Highly recommend thanks chef !!

The food is soooo yummy and authentic! I went there with my dad who doesn’t know much about Indian food and the owner gave such great recommendations and let us sample their mango lassi which was also amazing. They also have a great lunch menu that’s well priced! My new favorite Indian place on this side of town for sure!

I’ve been eating here, everyday, for the past week. The food is so good. You haven’t tried Indian food until you’ve eaten here. The flavors are so rich! From the Samosa to the Chicken Tikka, to their buttery naan! You will not be disappointed.

This is a hidden gem for anyone who loves authentic Indian flavors. The mutton biryani is absolutely delicious—fragrant, perfectly spiced, and cooked just right. You can really taste the freshness and quality in every bite.
We also tried a few curries and appetizers, and everything was flavorful without being overly oily especially malai murg tandoori. The spice levels were well balanced, and they’re happy to customize based on your preference.
The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick, whether dining in or taking out. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, making it a great spot for family meals.
If you’re craving genuine Indian cuisine, especially great biryani, this place is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be coming back again!
