Take aways are kept to one side ( not in the main dining room ) which is very sensible as it does not disturb the people that are dining in, as the volume of people coming for take away was substantial.
I was greeted warmly and shown to my table.
The menu has an endless array of choices including all of the traditional loved Thai favourites.
The service was warm and welcoming and to experience such professionalism by the very young lady who looked after us was very pleasant.
It truly was wonderful to see such a young person have such magnificent service skills, exceptional manners and be so in tune with what she was doing, I couldn’t fault her whatsoever. She is a complete asset to the restaurant and it made the dining experience an absolute delight. ( Thank you .. sorry I didn’t get your name )
I was just as pleased to find the food matched the quality of service. Everything was absolutely wonderful. It was all hot fresh and very flavourful.
The Tom kha Gai was delicious, it was creamy, incredibly flavourful and the chicken tender.
The satay chicken sticks were very tender and the satay sauce was one of the best I’ve had.
The rice ( pictured is a single serving for 1 ) came in a cute little silver bowl with a lid to keep it warm. The rice was soft and fluffy, cooked perfectly and it stayed moist and warm for a long time.
The soft shell crab in garlic pepper sauce was presented well …
( but unfortunately it came out completely different to what was on described on the menu, which needs to be rectified, which was addressed with the restaurant. )
The coconut prawns were fresh, huge and crunchy .. and as the name suggests coated in long strands of coconut and deep fried, served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce.
( my only complaint is that the prawns were so big and the dipping sauce container was too little, so you couldn’t fit them in to dip them )
All dishes came beautifully presented, with hand cut carrot flowers and an accompanying little salad garnish and sauces.
The restaurant itself was very neat and clean in all areas.
Pricing was medium and budget friendly.
Music was not played in the restaurant so it was really quiet.
But Music ( the radio ) was playing in the kitchen only, very softly.
Child friendly/ children’s menu / high chairs available.
Would I return ..yes definitely
Would I recommend.. yes
I had never enjoyed Thai food until I tried Lilly Thai Restaurant in toukley. The food there is unbelievable tasty and full of flavour. The presentation is remarkable as well as the customer service.
From a new life long customer
We ordered through DoorDash and called the restaurant to ask if we could swap the lime (which usually comes with Pad Thai) for a slice of lemon. You’d think this would be a straightforward yes or no. Instead, we were told—very firmly—that the dish doesn’t come with either lemon or lime, and if we wanted lemon, we’d have to pay $1. For one slice. Of lemon.
Now, we’d just spent $40 on one main and a small dessert, so it didn’t seem outrageous to think a simple citrus garnish could be accommodated. But sure, let’s swipe the card and pay the extra dollar. Oh, and bonus points—we were also charged a credit card fee for this whopping $1 transaction. Classy.
Then came the punchline: they ended up sending a lime anyway. When I called to ask about it—not something I’d usually bother with, but the whole thing was so ridiculous I couldn’t help myself—I was told by I believe her name is Maddie that if they don’t have lemon, they’ll just send lime because “they taste the same.”
Just to clarify: limes are typically more bitter and aromatic, whereas lemons are sharper, tangier, and brighter. They’re both citrus fruits, sure, but saying they “taste the same” is like saying Coke and Pepsi are identical because they’re both fizzy and dark.
It wasn’t about the money. It was about the rigid, dismissive attitude and the complete lack of basic customer care. One dollar, one garnish, and one massive overreaction on their end.
What a joke.
Food: good. Service: unnecessarily difficult.
