Good price, authentic taste, excellent service. And their tempura is the BEST! Highly recommend from a returning customer.

Such a hidden gem! Food is amazing and reasonably priced. Definitely my new favourite sushi spot.

We(family) went there for dinner for the first time last week. For us leaving this review was quite easy. Food was tasty. Service was very prompt and fast. The portions were great and price was affordable and for me great for the portion and taste they served. The place and seating looks a bit worn but it was neat although cold air was coming through the heating vents for quite some time when they switched on the heater that kept us cold for longer than expected. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes. BTW I never thought my fav friend rice will be from a Japanese restaurant. I liked it. Teriyaki beef and Donburi was good too.

I have been coming to Yamako for about twenty years, and have eaten there under three different owners. The first iteration was great, the second one not that much, but the third (the current) one is by far the best.

For me it is the best sushi place in White Rock, and (along with a certain Indian place in White Rock, and certain Greek place on Davie downtown) one of the three restaurants I like most in greater Vancouver.

Sushi quality is first-rate, the selection of other dishes is great (how often have you seen “Real Wasabi” on offer? Saba Shioyaki? Unagi Kabayaki?), and most importantly every dish is excellent.

The atmosphere is unpretentious – which I like very much – and the service very friendly.

Yamako Sushi punches way above it’s weight class, and is terrific regardless of the price category.

We are regular customers and frequently order dine in or delivery from here. Tonight our delivery meal was very disappointing we ordered our usual. We received less food then we typically receive (tuna oshi came with 4 instead of 6, yam roll, chicken teriyaki roll, and dynamite roll was half amount), and the quality was not there. Everything looked thrown together and rushed. When we talked to uber eats and sent photos, the response was it is up to the restaurants discretion and received no compensation in return. Feels bad when you spend $60 to receive half the amount of food as advertised in menu description.

Update: thank you to Yamako sushi for reaching out to resolve the issue — excellent customer service! Unfortunately, it appears that our order was tampered with/food stolen by delivery. How the food was packed by the restaurant is not how we received it, so we have reached out to Uber Eats again to resolve the problem.

Sub par. Service is extremely slow and inattentive. Food especially sushi, is meh, lacking in flavour. Spinach gomae salad sauce too much sugar. Only good thing is Kim chi fried rice, which is not even Japanese, but they refused to make it for me. I have diabetes, so I need it to be brown rice; it was, ‘Chef says no’, even though they will do sushi rolls in brown rice (disgusting, however; brown rice is only good when disguised by other flavors, and warm; No clue, this so-called Chef). Then she said they have beer on tap, but brought a can of Budweiser for seven bucks, (said they don’t have Sapporo blaming the BCL strike, but I happen to know that particular beer deliveries are not affected, BDL is not in the same Union); and act like they don’t know what a pint of beer is, or heard me say ‘on tap’, and ignored me and left it when I said I didn’t want it. Tea was weak and cold. The seating is a joke, booths constantly jostling from the movement of the person seated behind, I felt like I’m in the crappy section of an airplane. The KFC across the parking lot is a nicer restaurant. Admittedly that is one nice KFC. I ate there afterwards cause still hungry, and I don’t eat that much any more cause of diabetes meds etc. Just goes to show, you have dietary restrictions and go to the wrong restaurant, you end up eating other sh. There are better Japanese restaurants I’m saying. In fact there is one better one in that same shopping center. Even the wasabi had no flavour, believe it

Quiet little store in a large plaza with tons of parking. Almost full when I went dec 27, Friday for lunch. Total of around 8 tables .

Beef udon was savory and a bit too salty but evening in it except the kamaboko was good. Udon was soft but chewy, beef and onion was not sweet which is great. Perfect for cool days.
Also got an avocado mango roll, my own fault for not remembering mango is not in season lol, mango was tart and weird, tasted so sad. Avocado was good though. Rice was thin so good for me but was a bit on the hard side.

Will try their robata in the future and other rolls once I can eat raw stuff again.

Got 3 item sashimi option for $19 and a Roll option for $17. Sashimi was melting in the mouth. 5 stars. Salmon avocado roll was the most memorable one out of the other combo. Each piece had a generous amount of salmon. Memorable.
I don’t eat out often but will be coming back for sure!

Sushi is decent but dont order off the 3 for $18.95 menu. Do the math. It can be cheaper to order items a la carte . Not sure why they have this “special” lol

Come on a Friday night and they’re almost full of table. The $10 sushi is very very fresh. Deep fried rolls are very acceptable. Wow, the pricing is great and they’re very cool and nice. The only thing is the restaurant doesn’t have much tables, but it is what it is
