Most food was pretty good! Anything straight from the back kitchen was delicious. We would return if staying in Newcastle.

Rice was undercooked and sticky, which if you’re undercooking the rice and serving it, what else are you letting slide? Colour of the fish was off but that wasn’t a huge deal to me until I opened the sashimi and definitely had a smell to it so I just did not eat it. Spent about 100 bucks for 4 people and ate less than half.

For context I grabbed takeaway, the walk back was less than 10 minutes so theres no way any of it went off in that time.

Literally the worst sushi I’ve had

Very small portions – sizes of the hand rolls are tiny!!!

Food (mainly fish) did not seem fresh and service was non-existent. I called someone over as there were no soft drinks on the tablets, she said she didn’t know what to do. I asked if I could over through her, she said she didn’t know. I ended up walking over and grabbing what I wanted myself!

Very busy sushi train style eatery, good selection and quality was great, everything was nice and fresh, staff were very good at accommodating our dad who has a walker, great for quick tasty dining.

Amazing place to try sushi. Wehad ordered teriyaki chicken plate and tried prawn, chicken sushis…loved em. The flavours were balanced.. and the miso soup just helped counter the chilling weather .. will definitely come back

Sushi Train was once a go-to spot for fresh, delicious sushi in a fun and casual setting. Unfortunately, those days seem to be long gone. On my recent visit, I was shocked at how far the place has declined.

The first thing that hit me wasn’t the food — it was the state of the restaurant. Thick dust coats the walls, and stock is scattered carelessly along the floors, even spilling out from behind the kitchen benches. It creates an impression of neglect and poor hygiene that’s hard to ignore.

The food, once the highlight of the experience, is now disappointing. The gyoza arrives cold every time, and the sushi servings are noticeably smaller than they used to be. To make matters worse, the plates and lids on the sushi train are visibly old, scratched, and dirty. It’s clear they haven’t been replaced or properly cleaned in a long time.

What this place desperately needs is a thorough deep clean, some basic maintenance, and a return to the standards it once proudly upheld. Until then, it’s hard to recommend Sushi Train to anyone looking for a quality dining experience.
