Not only was it the culinary highlight of my week in Vienna, but for a few hours, it turned colleagues into friends.
We thankfully snagged a reservation and arrived slightly before opening. Welcomed by the kitchen, 8 of us settled in for the evening. We opened Terrae and were the last to leave for the evening! 3 hours, good wine, good conversation, pictures, cheers, laughs, proper gin and tonic, delicious bread, pasta, entrees, starters (ohh the octopus was incredible) with a little work conversation sprinkled in. What a great evening. What a stellar experience. And the head chef (I think) has a head turning smile.
Highly highly recommend.
The food is just unbelievably delicious and all-natural. Amazing beef tartare served with bone marrow and steak Florentine simply to die for.
There are lots of great options to visit while in Vienna, but when you’re up best and authentic experience – Terrae. Tuscan Kitchen is the place to visit.
It’s has business leaning stlye, and a calm atmosphere.
A mom with her newborn baby in a stroller was also welcome while we were there. I think it’s a lovely inclusion mindset some high end restorants truly miss. 5+1 stars for that 🙂
Also nice coffe 🙂
As an Italian living in Vienna, I am naturally meticulous when it comes to original recipes and culinary traditions. Terrae is one of the very few establishments in the city that refuses to compromise: they do not adapt their recipes to local tastes but maintain the absolute authenticity of the Italian versions. It felt exactly like being back in Italy.
The open kitchen is a statement of transparency and elegance, allowing anyone to witness the craftsmanship behind the food. After speaking with the kitchen staff, I can confirm they are 100% Italian, bringing genuine passion to every dish.
The Food: The quality was impeccable. Beyond my own meal, I sampled my lunch companion’s dish and it was flawless. As for the dessert, it was a true work of art — almost a shame to eat it, though the taste certainly justified the “sacrifice.”
The Service (what a pity, only 5 stars available): This is where Terrae truly stands out. While Vienna has other high – end, “chic” restaurants, their service often feels glacial and detached. At Terrae, the staff balances elegance with a warmth and spontaneity you can feel from a mile away. They aren’t just efficient; they are human. Compared to the robotic formality found elsewhere, the service here is a breath of fresh air.
I will certainly be back. Highly recommended for those seeking the real Italy in the heart of Vienna.
