Few things, Friday at 6:30pm. They were short staffed and it’s not too busy being a new place. We were patient, and food was understandably slow to come out of the kitchen. My husband got all his food, my tacos and entree were forgotten, and they comped the tacos. We gave up on my entree at about 7:30ish (they close at 7pm) and they removed those from our bill.
Tacos are good here, best part and the savory tamales too. We mentioned it to staff for review on what we didn’t like. I hope they improve, because they have potential. 4 tacos, 1 comped taco, 1 entree and 4 tamales with 2 horchatas $58

Yummy! I had the Boricua taco on cilantro tortilla and the Birria taco on regular corn tortilla and a guava and cheese tamale, they were all very very delicious! I was served quickly and was given great service by the staff! I can’t wait to be back to try other items on the menu!

Delicious and well thought out menu. Shared the tostada ap and what a delight. The switch to plantain from tortilla made it so fresh and interesting. Puerto Rican style taco with bits of fried plantain was exceptional. Green chili tamale (not shown) was also really great – banana leaf was ra special. Not Tex Mex on our “famous” Mckinney street row of Tex Mex. I wish it was in downtown Denton, but as good as the food is then I think their location may not matter for their success. If you have been missing Boca 31 then get your bottom over to el Rincón. Fresh and clean atmosphere.

The curb appeal could use some work; but, the inside is tastefully designed, and the food is even more delicious! We had hibiscus agua frescas, the queso & tostada apps, quesabirria, a tamale, and a couple tacos. Everything was

Unfortunately the service really took away from the food experience, although some of my friends were not fans of the food either. They brought us one little “can” of chips, of which 2/3 were crums. When I asked for more, they said no. I asked if I could pay for more and they offered “chips and guacamole” – so no, “no chips for you”. Then when the food came out, it was one person at a time… about 5 min apart. And then mine was about 10 min after the last, so everyone was able to watch me eat! Excuse was kitchen was slammed but there was maybe 20 people in the place that is for a hundred? I may give them another try in a couple of months for the good food, but hopefully the service will drastically improve and they will figure out that chips are cheap, reviews are expensive!

Cannot speak highly enough about the quality and consistency of this little place. Stellar service every time, consistently fresh delicious food, and a broad menu with something for everyone, not to mention the fancy plating. They don’t get enough business in my opinion, especially at the VERY affordable price point for the area. If you aren’t here, you’re missing out!!

The first and probably last time I went, I ordered the hibiscus flower tacos. The server nonchalantly mentioned that they would be “gritty” (because it’s a flower was her reasoning); I was not too concerned by that and went ahead and ordered it. She was not lying, it was super gritty, like sand, but the part I was not ready for was when I almost broke a tooth on a gravel size rock. After that, I searched through the taco and found multiple nerd/gravel size rocks. I asked the server about them and she acted like that was normal. I can maybe understand some grittyness, but this was another level. It was as if they dropped the hibiscus flower on a dirt road, scooped it up, rocks and all, and served it anyway. I would not recommend any restaurant serve anything with rocks in it that could potentially harm a customer.

The bar looks nice.

The food is good…. If you don’t mind paying high prices for what amounts to extremely small appetizer portions. 3 SMALL tacos (quesabirria) were $17. The $4 tacos are MAYBE 4”-5” diameter with nothing more than a small amount of meat. I got a 2” diameter “dipping bowl” for my rice and beans. There were 4 of us in our party and we literally felt ripped off. Went home and heated up some tamales since we basically paid $80 for the smallest of small portions. If you buy into the hype and decide to eat there, you better hurry because there is no way this place survives in a Denton economy. Don’t believe me, then go there for yourself.

Excellent food. Give it a try!
I had the cochinita pibil, boricua, and Celina tacos… all 3 were amazing. They had 8 different handmade tortilla types to choose from, I recommend the guajillo and the mango-habenero.
They also have a full vegan menu. Awesome place and I’ll definitely be back when I’m back in Denton.
