Had a day out from Kanapolis State Park to explore Lindsborg, and we wanted to experience some Swedish cuisine. This place did not disappoint. Everything was delicious, and the meal size was more than adequate. We had enough for leftovers. The staff were very friendly and we highly recommend.

8.16.25 – Celebratory dinner with my girlfriend, 3:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon –

The Crown and Rye in Lindsborg, Kansas is an absolute “must dine” if you are going to be visiting this Little Sweden. The food is absolutely incredible, but I must say the best part of our meal was our server, Deanna. We had never been here before, and both of us were very excited to try the traditional Swedish fare. It absolutely did not disappoint and I feel some of that has to do with the way Deanna took time and care to describe and recommend the dishes we ordered.

I ordered Kåldomar, and the description on the menu is exactly what comes out, a deconstructed cabbage roll over rice with sauce, and lingonberry compote. The lamb is roasted and shredded and it is delicious! We both ordered the same side dish because of the description from our server, and Färskpotatis (creamy, dill, diced potatoes). My girlfriend ordered Köttbullar (Swedish meatballs over egg noodles) and they were perfect! I do wish there was an option to get MORE meatballs with this dish, as we shared all of our plates for the opportunity to taste the differences… seven small meatballs was not enough! lol. We had water to drink because it was 97° outside and we had been hiking in the local hillside attraction called Coronado Heights… and we were exhausted and needed to hydrate! We also got the Risgrynsgröt, with is a traditional cinnamon rice pudding dish drizzled with maple syrup, and yes, it was also spectacular!

On a personal note, I am a world traveler, and I have reviewed restaurants all over Europe and Australia and America. Stepping into Crown and Rye felt so authentically European… From the outside architecture, to the inside decor and use of hardwoods, to the stained glass themed authentically to Stockholm and Gothenburg, to the Swedish language menu… there’s even a speakeasy-type bar in the rear of the restaurant that felt authentically like a corner pub, in-country. We honestly had a conversation where we felt like we were thousands of miles away, from where we actually were… Crown and Rye has a way of transporting you to one of the most authentic experiences I have ever had while out-country. We cannot wait to go back and experience their upcoming festival! Many thanks, cheers!
10 out of 10 recommend!

Crown and Rye was recommended by a family member, and it did not disappoint. We sat down, ordered two lingonberry Arnold Palmers, and had a plan to go with any of the most Swedish dishes on the menu. So we started with the Smorgas appetizer, and for our entrées, one of us chose the Kåldolmar and the other chose the Köttbullar. We ended the meal with a slice of the blueberry-lemon pie, a slice of the key lime pie, and a bowl of the Swedish rice pudding. All of the dishes were delicious. To top it all off, the service provided by Deanna was amazing. We will be returning as many times as we possibly can return, and we will be recommending that everyone stop and eat anytime they have a chance, even if it requires a detour from your planned route.

During my recent visit to Crown and Rye in Lindsborg, Kansas, I had the opportunity to enjoy their Swedish-inspired fare—and it exceeded expectations in every way.

To start, I ordered the Baked Brie, which was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced with chipotle honey, dried cranberries, chopped pecans, and crisp crostini. The sweet heat and rich texture made for a memorable appetizer.

For my entrée, I selected the Värmlandskorv, a traditional potato sausage that was pan-seared and served with potatoes, bacon, and onions. It was topped with braised red cabbage (Rödkål) and finished with a browned-butter beef broth—an incredibly flavorful combination. For my side, I chose the Färskpotatis, creamy dill potatoes that complemented the dish wonderfully.

Though I was full, I couldn’t resist taking dessert to go: a slice of Blueberry Lemon Pie and another of Salted Caramel Apple Pie—both equally indulgent and satisfying.

The service throughout the meal was excellent—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Every element of the experience reflected care and quality.

Crown and Rye is a gem in the heart of Kansas, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thoughtful and flavorful culinary experience that honors Swedish tradition.

If you are Lindsborg, stop and check it out. Reasonable prices, hearty portions and great food. We went Swedish (when in Rome). Big menu with much variety if you aren’t in the mood to try Swedish good. Had the Potato Sausage and would recommend. Wife had Swedish meatballs and noodles. Also recommend.

Desserts were excellent. Never pass on dessert. Rice pudding was really.good as was the Peach Pie.

Great Swedish dishes! We both had the Swedish meatballs, one with noodles and one with mashed potatoes. Both excellent and very filling. The yellow pea soup was hot and comforting. Chocolate cake for dessert. Yum!

A nice place to have some swedish food at a reasonable price. We tried the Smorgas and it was pretty good. I got the yellow pea soup and it was delicious! Creamy, thick, with pieces of meat and carrot. I also got the Varmlandskorv, Sausage and potatoes in a delicious sauce. I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

The food here is amazing. My friend and I went on new year’s day and they were open and busy. The food is so good and it was a very large portion. They have a little bakery area with pies and cookies , and they’re all handmade. We had great service! I had the Mushroom Ravioli and my friend had the swedish meatballs and both meals were delicious.

They have the Impossible pattie burger for vegetarians and vegans, would recommend. The peanut butter cookies are also very good. They were slightly stingy with napkins, but everything else was good.
