An evening at Le Deauville is the equivalent of an evening in culinary Paradise! We entertained a friend from France here this week and the experience was positively amazing! Our Frenchman declared it the best French food he’d ever had outside of France. Of course the ambiance is perfect and the whole experience was like a dining fairy tale. The service was over the top incredible and our server spoke fluent French to our guest throughout the whole meal. Nothing was left to chance and nothing was neglected. All four courses were delicious and cook perfectly. We could not have been happier with our food, our service, or our experience there. Bravo, and thank you for a wonderful evening.

I was there for happy hour appetizers and all you can eat mussels. It did not disappoint. I enjoyed it very much. Service was a very slow. My waitress was not attentive at all. Street parking is not free until after 7 on Tuesday nights.

My wife and I hit up Le Deauville for the first time. I had an excellent dinner, it was cozy, and my waiter was exceptional.

I think its important though to spell out a few key things to help folks have an enjoyable evening. Drop your expectations, they will just lead to resentment.

1. Don’t come for dinner if you are in a hurry. The moment you walk in, you’ve left Kentucky and are now in Europe. The service, like many dining experiences outside the US, is not geared toward finicky scolds who make demands & want things RIGHT NOW. This dinner service is relaxed. You are making an investment here, with the people you arrived with, and all the people around you. This isn’t starbucks, this is Le Deauville. This night is unique and a work of art. Or the service could suck, but…service expectations are contextual mind you..

2. Try to relax. Grab some wine, or something stronger. Sip it. Look into your partners eyes. Read Yelp reviews (especially Le Deauvilles) out loud, gripping the table as you laugh out loud, or read poetry. Perhaps ask those seated at the tables around you about their children, or their last vacation to Quebec City. Look at your partner again, yes, and devise plans to kiss them, in the dim lighted corner booth you are sitting.

3. Look, we all want more bread, but truthfully, we probably aint gonna get more bread. Enjoy the loaf you are provided and adjust your expectations. Don’t get the idea that somehow you are important and will get a second loaf. No! This is the moment you move in to kiss your partner again. Man does not live by second loafs of bread, but kisses of his beautiful partner.

4. I really recommend the Mussels. All you can eat, in this economy? Yes! I actually got the mussels because I assumed it would be a big fail and I could write something snarky. Honestly, they were delicious, and they got better each time they brought me more. I especially recommend the Moules Mariniere & Moules Creole; absolutely stunning. (Disclaimer: The Confit duck is also superb. Tender, moist, flavorful, just like braised fowl should be, but its no Moules). My last round I asked my waiter-who was excellent-to bring me his favorite Moules. It’s not on the menu, but it had walnuts and literally made me want to scream in pleasurable ecstasy.

Thank you Le Deauville for not being like every other restaurant that tries to simultaneously make me feel very important for being a customer but at the same time tries to rush me in and out. Thank you for just being a place to come enjoy a meal where I can gaze longingly at my wife all evening and break free from all the problems of the world by eating Mussels and sopping up the juices with buttered bread.

We went on Tuesday for all you can eat mussels. Great atmosphere. White tablecloths, proper place setting, empty dishes were cleared from table promptly. Mussels were great quality, portion, price. We would have the dish again even if not all you can eat. Their house made french fries were also excellent. The house greens salad- very good, a little pricey. We both had cocktails, they were excellent. I had wine with dinner. Le Jade Chardonnay was okay, not great at $14/glass.
The downside- service was okay, not great. When my fiance called to make reservations, she felt the gentleman was a little rude or grumpy on the phone. Like he couldn’t be bothered for just two of us. At the restaurant, he did not appear to be pleasant or greet guests. EXCEPT when he served a table of high rollers that spoke French sitting near us. Service was slow. Although we were in no rush, we were there 2 and 1/2 hours. The musles were took 30 minutes after we ate our salad. And then, I ordered a second glass of wine before we ordered more mussels. I never got the glass of wine until we were finished and asking for our check. I didn’t want to be a jerk and reject the glass of wine, so I paid for it. Overall, we would eat there again. Just enjoy the food and atmosphere.

Excellent dinner at Le Deauville, best French restaurant & bistro. Marc & his team welcome us very well, especially Karrah who did a wonderful job advising us on the menu & drinks. We felt just like in Paris . We had the onion soup, the fish of the day (delicious swordfish) and the bœuf bourguignon. For dessert, the profiteroles were lovely.

We went here for our anniversary and had a really lovely experience. Our reservation was for 6pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was still fairly empty at that time but by 7pm it was bustling which I loved. It added to the ambiance and made me feel as if I was back in France but I would highly recommend having a reservation, especially if you come later in the evening. The food here is legit and just like eating as if you were in Paris. We splurged because it was our anniversary and paid about $80 per person (before tip) but if you come for just appetizers or order only main dishes it could be more affordable. The appetizers themselves were very filling. I got the Magret de Canard, an item that isn’t on the menu but was the plat du jour and it was phenomenal, truly comparable to anything you would eat in France. Service was wonderful. If you come later I imagine the dining experience would take more time but that is part of the appeal! We were in and out in about 2 hours. A wonderful option for a special night out. It seems there is also an option to eat at the bar. I’ve already recommended this restaurant to friends in the area.

This past Friday, my friends and I went to Le Deauville for dinner (without any reservations). For one of my friends and I, it was our second time at this place, and the reason we came back again was because we had a great time the first time (like we had thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience here). Both of my friends drove from Louisville. By the time they arrived in Lexington, both were hungry.

We ordered several cocktail drinks, appetizers, and entrees. The service was slower this time, and the dinner took us almost 3 hours. The restaurant was not entirely busy, but our server was gone for a long time, and we didn’t see her for a while. I used to be in the food industry, and I usually understood what was happening behind the scenes in the kitchen or in the restaurant, but it was not okay when we were left unattended for a good time. (Our drinks were long gone, and we wanted to order more drinks that night). One of my friends almost left the table because it took a long time to get our drinks or food, and he was not having it that night. I got my friend to sit still and wait for our food because leaving was still rude.

Besides the slow service, the restaurant’s ambiance is intimate and has a romantic setting. I recommend this place for dates and for trying delicious French cuisine with robust and delightful cocktail drink options.

I guess, from my first experience and this recent one, we will have to return much later to try this place again. I would still recommend this place to people, have extra patience when you come here as a guest 🙂

We went for all you can eat mussels and were quickly seated only to find out the kitchen was backed up. Drinks took an hour to get (food longer); one of our tables entree was brought out 30 min after the tables were served; toast was served instead of baguettes as they ran out. The staff was very nice however I would not go back. I can’t say if this was the regular Tuesday night experience or just ours but we were only able to get in 2 rounds of mussels in 3 hours before closing so I would hardly say all you can eat

A very nice Frnech restaurant in the middle of downtown Lexington. The food was very good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very lovely.
The mussels are a MUST TRY and do not forget to try the crème brûlée as a desert.
Merci pour ce délicieux dîner!

Our evening at Le Deauville was nothing short of exceptional, with outstanding service and delectable cuisine that left an indelible mark on our palates.

The service at Le Deauville deserves the highest praise. The staff greeted us warmly and guided us to our table with genuine hospitality. Throughout the evening, our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to enhance our dining experience. They effortlessly balanced professionalism with a friendly demeanor, creating an inviting atmosphere that made us feel truly valued.

My wife’s choice of Moules à la Diable, a classic French dish of mussels cooked in a spicy tomato-based sauce, was a revelation. The mussels were plump, tender, and infused with an exquisite blend of flavors. The sauce had just the right amount of heat, adding a nice kick to every bite. It was a dish that showcased the restaurant’s commitment to authentic French flavors executed to perfection.

As for my entrée, the New York Strip with fries and Green peppercorn sauce, it was a carnivorous delight. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Each bite revealed a burst of juiciness and a remarkable depth of flavor. The Green peppercorn sauce, with its rich and creamy texture, elevated the dish to new heights, adding a delightful tang that complemented the meat impeccably.

To complete our gastronomic journey, we indulged in a delectable dessert—a delicate Crème Brûlée that was perfectly caramelized on top, giving way to a velvety smooth custard beneath. It was a sweet conclusion to an evening of culinary enchantment.

Le Deauville’s dedication to providing exceptional cuisine, combined with impeccable service, sets it apart as a true gem in Lexington. Whether you’re a connoisseur of French cuisine or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience, Le Deauville is an absolute must-visit.
