Pad Thai was so bland I couldn’t believe it! Spring roll container had a hole in it larger than a silver dollar…why?! Entirely TOO MANY chopped peanuts in the Pad Thai. Then I paid $0.50 just to have chicken added. Insane! I won’t be back.

Inside atmosphere looked like a restaurant only allowing pickup orders during Covid-19 – unsure why as it was 5/28/24 during lunch rush.

Staff wasn’t rude or inviting. However, I did an online order for pickup so maybe not much needed to be said.

I’m not even sure if the staff are Thai. As someone who’s been to Thailand & eaten local cuisine including Pad Thai, this was upsetting to say the least. I wasted my $24 so you don’t have to!

Tara Thai was always one of the best Thai restaurants in the DC area. Not sure why their ratings have declined. I know they had a slow recovery from the pandemic, hopefully they are on the upswing.
The last few dinners we have had here were excellent.
During the most recent visit, we had the spring rolls and chicken dumplings for appetizers. The spring rolls were solid, though the dumplings were a little on the bland side.
For dinner, we had the Pattaya noodles and the Spicy Eggplant. Both dishes were excellent. The Eggplant was nicely spiced and the large Eggplant chunks were perfectly cooked. The Pattaya Noodles were also spicy, but the spice didn’t overpower the shrimp, squid, and crabmeat in the dish.
The service was great and the place looked as nice as ever.

Not so fresh tasting Thai, our order tasted like it was prepped yesterday and simply reheated today. Portions were oddly small and unevenly flavored.

Our Beef Mussaman was the best of the three dishes and sadly this entree had the smallest broth portion. Flavoring was controlled without anything being overpowering. The beef was indeed soft and the two potato chunks were just right.

Our green curry was way too spicy (we asked for a two out of five) and we lost every other flavor of the dish after the first bite.

The Tom Ke Hed soup had way too much fish sauce in the broth and the vegetables tasted like they were a day or two short of their expiration date. Again, the portion was very small.

Thankfully our dinner arrived warm so we got a fair expectation of what the meal should taste like.

AMAZING!! Didnt get the friendliest of greetings, but the server was great. My first time there and I was in awe of the asethtics, it is beautiful inside with a underwater theme. I was skeptical on food, I am a picky eater, but the food was great! I had a good portion size. The drink was great. I will definitely go back next time I am in town.

Had lunch at Tara Thai on Rockville Pike today. We had Beef Mussamunn and Pad Thai. Both entrees were delicious and nice portion. The service was prompt, friendly and professional.

The restaurant atmosphere and decor and the main entrance look however, needs some upgrading and clean up. Perhaps some Thai decor for the interior would give the place a bit more authentic feel. Removing stacks of patio chairs covered with tarp next to the entrance would take away some of the unpleasant look of the exterior.

With the hand-written notice on the door and stacked up chairs we actually thought the place was closed from 20 feet away and almost didn’t go in. Turned out the notice said “use other door.”

While the interior decorator did an amazing job, the food here is worse than Panda Express. We ordered pork and chicken but found a shrimp shell in our food… The fried rice is just ok and the drunken noodles had a slight chemical taste to it. Foodies beware and go to Amina Thai instead

This is really good. If you go on a weeknight there’s no wait. We got the pad Thai and panang curry which was really good. The curry was really coconut heavy. Highly recommend

I wasn’t impressed with Tara Thai. It wasn’t bad, just not memorable in any of the typical dining categories of — taste, ambience, price, etc. I may visit again but I wouldn’t go out of my way or make a special trip. The food was just okay, service was okay, price was okay. Nothing special or noteworthy.

The most bland and tasteless pad Thai I’ve ever had. Maybe 4 or 5 shrimp in my order with no taste and not fully cooked. I went in to order and the lady at the front was more concerned with her cell phone than my order since I ordered chicken and shrimp but only got shrimp. The customer service is horrible and the food even worse!!! I could’ve made a cup of noodles and would’ve been more satisfied. Never again

Ordered take out – the meal was an abundance of Thai noodles & minimal seafood: shrimp, scallops & squid. I’ll have 2 add my own seafood @ home.
