I grew up in the area and have lived abroad—mostly in Europe—for the past 15 years. Over that time, I’ve become very aware of the differences in ingredients and food quality between Europe and the U.S. When I come back each year to visit family, I often find that a lot of American food leaves me feeling bloated and uncomfortable, likely due to additives, dyes, and lower-quality ingredients that I’m no longer used to.
Blue Moon Bagel Cafe is the one wonderful exception.
I’ve been coming here since high school, and it’s the place I genuinely look forward to eating when I’m back in town. I truly trust their ingredients: the food tastes fresh, clean, and well made, and it doesn’t leave me with that heavy, uncomfortable feeling I get elsewhere. The sandwiches are delicious, everything feels thoughtfully prepared, and the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. Prices are also quite reasonable for the area, especially considering current inflation in the US.
I’ll admit that some of the desserts are total sugar bombs—but that’s probably just my now very European palate talking! For those who love a sweet treat, they’re clearly doing something right.
All in all, Blue Moon Bagel Cafe is a real gem in Medfield. I’m grateful it’s still here and always make a point to visit when I’m back about once a year. Thank you for staying true to quality and consistency all these years.

This is the second time I’ve been here. The first time was with my mother and the coffee we ordered was delicious; we couldn’t stop talking about it.
This time I ordered a sandwich on a croissant and some tea. The coissant was delicious, flavorful, and flakey. I’m a pickle person so I was very happy to see two pickle slices with my sandwich.

Busy, forgot my order, then acted annoyed when I asked for my money back. I would say this was ok…people make mistakes, but both times I went this happened. I did successfully manage to get an overpriced tub of chicken salad that had so much tarragon it was inedible (the bagel sandwich I ordered apparently disappeared along with the boy who took my order, but after trying the chicken, I think I probably was better off).
Frankly, they aren’t doing anything special, other than the atrocious chicken salad, people have told me the food is ok, but I can’t go back to a place where I am apparently invisible except when handing them money.

Great place to eat. I went with my family and we were served by Ana Paola, who was very kind and had a gentle smile. She helped us with our orders and took great care of us. We ordered some sandwiches; the chicken pesto is my favorite. Thank you Blue Moon, thank you Ana Paola.

The bread here is incredibly fresh, much better than Whole Foods. The highlight for me is their vegan options, which taste like real food, not grass—lol. The vegan muffins were delicious. The service exceeded my expectations; the woman who spoke Portuguese provided excellent customer service. When I asked about the cream cheese, she gave me a small sample, which piqued my interest even more. It’s a bonus that they have Brazilian staff; now I can visit more often and bring my mom along too.

I love Blue Moon Cafe so much. The vibe in here is always so welcoming. The staff is wonderful as well. Aside from bagels they have a huge selection of baked goods and amazing sandwiches. They have vegan cream cheese. My favorite is the “Montreal Bagel” that is an egg bagel with poppy seeds in the dough, and sesames on top. And the “Big Blue Bagel” which is a plain blue swirled bagel. The proceeds from this bagel go to a local Medfield charity. The coffee is also delicious!

I come here to catch up with friends simply because there’s no other place nearby where you can sit down and have a cup of good, not burned coffee. The food which is mostly sandwiches is good, Cubano is my favorite. They have a decent selection of pastries and cakes and bagels. My only suggestion is, please remove the Montreal name from your not very Montreal bagel, it’s not even close…rename it whatever you wish, just not that. They have fantastic cream cheese probably made in the house, love their walnut maple, sure it’s pricey but anything that’s not Philadelphia cream cheese is a step up, and this one has huge chunks of walnuts. Yum. My photo shows their cream cheese on an actual bagel from Montreal, which wasn’t purchased from them.

Solid bagels and excellent baked goods for the area. Somewhat inconsistent across visits and even bagel types, but overall a good bagel. Sometimes they are small and very dense – while other times they are just the right amount of “airiness” and chew. Today was a good batch (see photo).
Lines generally move pretty quick but wait for prepared foods can take a while, so plan accordingly. Easy parking, as with most suburban establishments. Have been at least a dozen times in the last year, if not more.

Great spot for fresh baked treat’s especially bagels! Try the French toast flavor. Options for breakfast and lunch great salads, sandwiches with protein options or vege. Service is prompt and always with a pleasant demeanor. Outdoor seating with shade options. Very pleasant way to enjoy the outdoors
