WOW I’m so glad we decided to try Taqueria La Patrona for dinner. There is so much to choose from on their menu that everyone is bound to find something they would love. The food was fresh hot and delicious. The portion sizes are very generous and it would have been hard to finish my meal if the food wasn’t so delicious. The beer and margaritas were served in huge glasses. The service was fast and efficient and all the staff were professional and very welcoming. I loved the colorful and comfortable decor. This restaurant is conveniently located downtown on Granby Street and is easy walking distance from many attractions. I highly recommend Taqueria La Patrona and can’t wait to go back myself to try more of their amazing food.

Was on my way to another restaurant for dinner when we spotted La Patrona and decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint !
We ordered:
The house salsa and white sauce were on point
Fresh guacamole- delicious
Birria tacos – outstanding
Chori pollo – fantastic
The real stars were the refried beans (best Ive had in a very long time) and the house made corn tortilla, even though I prefer flour tortilla , these were amazing!
We had two rounds of cocktails. The spiked horchata was a real stand out. The only let down was the Paloma cocktail.
Absolutely will be back.

Welcoming Taqueria La Patrona to Granby Street!! What a festive remodel of this space for a wonderful Mexican dining experience! A warm greeting for 2 wonderful senoritas and directed to booth seating. Our server, Elisandro was personable and helpful with recommendations from the MANY appetizers & entrees. The house margherita was refreshing! The house chips & salsas were good! My Chori Pollo dish was delicious! The chicken was juicy & flavorful and the Steak fajitas equally as good! The menu is loaded!!! So returning will be soon to try more! The place is large with a really nice bar area so large groups will be easily accommodated!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Stopped in on our first night visiting Norfolk because it looked so cute and found out they just opened this location! Food was great, drinks were great, and friendly staff. Pricing was more than reasonable as well. The bar area looked really cool also, but the photos I got didn’t really do it justice so if you’re curious you’ll just have to check them out

I can’t comment on atmos, ordered last night on doordash. Service I’m rating as 5 star as whoever prepared the food did it with love. It wasn’t something just thrown together it was constructed. I grew up in Houston Texas, and lived in El Cajon California for a number of years and this is the best burrito Ive had since I was that close to the border. Light fluffy tortilla and perfectly seasoned steak, with rice you could taste. Pupusas were delicious, best in Hampton Roads. Salsas are good and the chips are freshly made. Eat food from here and feel like you were fed by family. Highly recommend.

I love La Patrona, it’s my go-to Mexican restaurant! But this time around, it was not up to expectations. I ordered takeout for x3 revuelta pupusas and upon getting home to eat….I find myself eating something soft but chewy. I assumed it was a piece of meat until I could NOT bite through it, so I grabbed it and I could not believe my eyes. A piece of folded up paper wrapper was in the pupusa I tore a piece of. Immediately I lost my appetite and was disappointed because I ordered from here to celebrate an anniversary with my Wife. La Patrona, you had a health and safety issue from this and I hope you all do better for your customers. I would order again no doubt, but I would keep my eyes peeled.

Wow! This place is so good! The moment you step inside, the atmosphere is simply breathtaking—it felt like walking into a real-life Encanto! The beautiful flowers everywhere and the amazing old-world feel create such a warm, magical setting.
The food, though, is the real star. The Birria Tacos were amazing—easily the best I’ve had. And you absolutely have to try the Pastor pork; it was so flavorful and delicious. Everything we ordered was fantastic and genuinely better than other local Mexican restaurants we’ve tried.
To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our server, Manuel, was great! He was incredibly attentive, responsive, and really made our dinner special.
A perfect experience from start to finish. I can’t wait to go back!

I was there the Friday after they opened. It was so new the protective film was still on the TVs. However, the food was great and so was the service.
I tried the Fluatas de Birria. I had never had birria before and it is not my style but it was still good. The creamy jalapeño sauce on top of it was fantastic. The heat on the sauce barely affected a spice lord like me but it was all about the flavor for me. I would say that is it safe for most people to be able to order without being too spicy for them but take that with a grain of salt.
The chips and salsa were better than most restaurants I go to. The chips had a nice texture and the salsa was well seasoned. They had a good white sauce as well for us Virginians.
They had many people going around that day checking on all the tables. Seemed like they were celebrating the opening. They were all very attentive and friendly.
Living in downtown, I will be walking here frequently. For those who drive, there is metered parking in the street and parking garages nearby. The garages do not charge in Norfolk for the first two hours unless there is a special event going on nearby.
