My wife has talked about this place for years. Finally went. I had the ribeye was very good and loaded sweet potato. The side salad was fresh super fresh. We will go back.

I was very disappointed in the food selection. I agreed to go with a group of friends who wanted BBQ, but checked the menu first since I am 90% vegetarian, eating fish occasionally. There was both a veggie burger and salmon on their on-line menu, but discovered when I got there, the on-line menu is totally inaccurate and those items are no longer offered. The veggie plate I put together was not very good. I understand it is a BBQ restaurant, but I was disappointed that they have neglected to keep their information on-line up to date. I would not have gone there had I known. My other gripe: all the dishes and cutlery are disposable – syrofoam plates, plastic forks – why??

I ordered a meal that included pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and fries. The pulled pork was the best of the three. The pork was very good and tasty. The chicken and brisket was still good, but just a bit dry. The fries here are much better than standard fries from a freezer bag. They were somewhat greasy but still tasty and worth getting. There are different sauces already available at your table for you to try.
My food was delivered to my table quickly, with little wait. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Drink refills did not take long to get either. The drink cups are a bit small. Food portions are pretty good for what you pay. The food prices here are still manageable, considering what you get.
The restaurant decor is nice and inviting. Dining in options are a bit limited. Tables could fill up quickly, depending on when you arrive. There are tables upstairs and downstairs. If you have mobility issues, then eating upstairs will be too difficult to access. The bathrooms seem to be kept up. Noise levels inside are tolerable and shouldn’t be a problem for most.
I would eat here again if the opportunity becomes present. If you are in Prestonsburg and like BBQ, then give Pig in a Poke a try.

I started to order a side salad, which is an option, with your meal, but there’s an upcharge for lettuce, tomato and all the other components of a typical salad. You can get a baked potato as a side option, but butter and sour cream are another upcharge. No BBQ sauce in my carryout. The brisket was shredded and too. dry. The pork was fine. Baked beans are very sweet. Needless to say this was my first and last meal from Pig in a Poke.

This is probably one of my favorite BBQ restaurants. Love the food here. The loaded fries are great! Everything here is good. Definitely a must go to if you’re in the area.
